Arizona Dance Festival 2011

Desert Dance Theatre presents the Arizona Dance Festival 2011 at the Tempe Center for the Arts Studio on Friday-Saturday, October 7-8, 2011 (Friday 7:30pm, Saturday 2:00pm & 7:30pm). Each performance will showcase a different set of individual dance artists and emerging artist groups as well as professional companies from all genres and styles of dance, featuring dance artists and dance companies from Arizona and other states.

A FREE Intermediate Modern Dance Class on Tuesday, October 4th at 6:00pm-7:30pm by Frances Cohen is offered as part of the ADF activities to ADC members, and to dancers with ADF ticket purchase.

A post-performance Q & A will be facilitated by the Arizona Dance Coalition directly after the show.

Title: Snow Queen auditions for young dancers

Description: Center Dance Ensemble will hold auditions for young dancers
ages 7 to 18 on Sunday, Sept. 25, for its annual holiday
production of “Snow Queen.”

The audition sessions will be by age groups:
1 to 2 p.m. for dancers ages 7 to 9
2:15 to 3:15 p.m. for dancers ages 10 to 12
3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for dancers ages 13 to 15
4:45 to 5:45 p.m. for dancers ages 16 to 18

Dancers should arrive 15 minutes early to register.

All dancers auditioning should have at least two years of
dance training.

There is a $20 audition registration fee.

The auditions will be held at Dance Theater West,
3925 E. Indian School Road, on the southwest corner of
40th Street and Indian School.

Rehearsals, under the direction of Frances Smith Cohen
and Susan Silverman, will be scheduled on Sundays,
beginning Oct. 2.

Performances of “Snow Queen” will be three weekends Dec. 3 to 18
at the Herberger Theater Center in downtown Phoenix. Roles are
triple cast so young dancers will perform for one weekend. The young
dancers join Center Dance Ensemble’s professional, adult dancers in
a production that has become a Valley holiday favorite for both dancers
and audiences. Last year 150 young dancers participated, performing
for sold-out audiences.
