DESCRIPTION:Mask Alive! Festival of Masks \nSunday\, March 6\, 2022 at 2-5 pm\nPioneer Park\, 526 E. Main St\, Mesa\, AZ 85203\nFree and open to all ages! \nCome experience an artistic family engagement gathering featuring giant puppets\, mask performers and celebrating the cultural diversity of our community! Local dance\, music and theater companies will demonstrate the power of the Mask to transform the actors\, as well as the audience. \nMask Alive is just one annual festival that Cultural Coalition produces throughout the Valley. The one thing that connects all of our events is offering these arts engagement opportunities for free to our communities and including a diverse line-up of performances that reflect the many cultures of Arizona. Having elected officials that value and uplift the arts is integral to making our festivals accessible to all. \nMask Alive Festival brings colorful characters and performances to Mesa thanks to the support of our artists\, community members\, and elected officials. In our newest blog\, Cultural Coalition has a chance to speak with City of Mesa Vice Mayor Jenn Duff and Councilmember David Luna to hear how supporting Mask Alive is supporting the arts for our communities. \nBLOG: https://culturalcoalition.com/mesa-celebrates-mask-alive/ \nThis year\, you and your family will enjoy performances by Chinese Lion Dancers\, Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli\, Japanese Taiko Drummers\, Astarte Belly Dance Troupe\, a Drumming Finale with artist Zarco Guerrero’s hand-carved drums and the beloved Parade of Giant Puppets! See you Sunday March 6 in the park! \nLisa R. Chow and Step Raptis of Desert Dance Theatre and Step’s Junk Funk will join the Family of Mask Alive wearing custom made masks by Zarco Guerrero.
