SUMMARY:Skinner Releasing Workshop (Tucson)
DESCRIPTION:Men and women of all ages (professional dancers\, mature movers\, inexperienced dancers\, and folks that love to move in a meditative and spontaneous way) are invited to participate in this class. The use of playful and deep imagery and improvisation is incorporated and the classes build on each other. \nYour commitment to the series is a large part of the experience. \nSRT reveals the natural grace in every human being and taps into transforming states of  consciousness which awakens the Dance within and guides us in the practice of letting go; letting go of stress\, letting go of unnecessary holding in our body\, letting go of preconceptions about what is supposed to happen\, letting go of fear of awkwardness\, letting go of the belief that we somehow don’t have the “right body”. \nTactile exercises are used to give the imagery immediate physical effect in the movements of participants. \nTwo class sessions will be offered on Friday evenings from 4:30-6pm and Saturday mornings from 10-11:30am at the sYnapse at Studio Y. Session 1: January 10-February 1. Session 2: February 7-28. $120 per session or $220 for all 8 weeks.

DESCRIPTION:Experience a dynamic weekend celebrating the forefront of contemporary dance as the Breaking Ground Contemporary Dance Festival returns to the Tempe Center for the Arts. \nNow in its 18th year\, this festival continues to showcase some of the most compelling voices in the field. Carefully curated by a panel of esteemed national adjudicators\, the 2025 event features innovative works by 15 choreographers and filmmakers\, brought to life by over 50 performers from Arizona and across the country. \nThe 2025 Breaking Ground Contemporary Dance Festival will take place on January 24–25 at 7:30 PM at the Tempe Center for the Arts\, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway\, Tempe. \nEach evening begins with a free Community Movement Class in the TCA Lobby from 6:00 to 6:30 PM\, open to movers and non-movers alike. \nFrom 7:00 to 7:30 PM\, enjoy free pre-show screenings presented in collaboration with the AZ Dance Film Festival in TCA’s East Breezeway. \nFollowing the theater performances\, audiences will have the chance to engage directly with the artists during Q&A sessions.
