DESCRIPTION:Chandler-Gilbert Community College Dance program hosts New York City based choreographer and dancer Daniel Gwirtzman for two FREE open master classes on October 15\, 2018. \nDaniel Gwirztman\, producer\, educator\, filmmaker and dancer – celebrates two decades as a New York City choreographer and company director. His diverse repertory for the non-profit Daniel Gwirztman Dance Company\, celebrating its 20th anniversary\, and other concert and commercial projects\, has earned praise for its humor\, stylistic diversity\, musicality\, charisma and accessibility. \nOct 15th 11:30 am – 12:50 pm – Choreographic Strategies For Making Dances Quickly \nGaining comfort making dances comes from the acquisition and practice of skills and a healthy portion of confidence. This class presents both\, essential compositional devices along with tips and strategies to empower you when thinking quickly on your feet. An array of choices can be available at all times. In the class we will make several quick studies and discuss them in a supportive and light-hearted judgment-free zone. \nOct 15 1:00 pm – 2:20 pm – Power\, Rhythm\, Speed: Modern Technique in Action \nRooted in Daniel’s contemporary choreography\, this energetic master class challenges the dancer’s coordination\, stamina\, and speed. Known for a unique style blending modern dance\, theater dance\, folk and ballet\, Daniel cultivates the physicality of the athlete and the expressivity of the artist. This fun technique class blends virtuosity with pedestrianism\, casualness with precision. Rewiring the body to tackle rhythmic work and unexpected coordination challenges the dancer both physically and intellectually. The objectives: to gain a total awareness of the entire body at all times; to cultivate a versatility; to aid in the development and proficiency of dance regardless of genre. \nBoth classes are FREE and open to all\, and are held at the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Pecos Campus\, Agave Hall Room 1300 Dance Studio

DESCRIPTION:GCU SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE OVERNIGHT CAMP!\nDance students are invited to a week-long overnight camp at Grand Canyon University! Come develop your skills through instruction with fellow dancers. All classes are taught by distinguished dance faculty and guests\, assisted by teacher candidates from GCU’s Dance Department. Male and female dancers ages 14 to 24 years are invited and must have two consecutive years of dance study. DESCRIPTION:Dear Dance Artists and Companies\, \nI would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming Arizona Dance Festival (ADF) that will take place at Tempe Center for the Arts Studio on October 18-21\, 2018. The festival will give you or your company great exposure\, and it’s a fun way to share your art with colleagues from around the state and guests from out of state. \nThe Arizona Dance Festival is open to individuals and emerging artist groups as well as professional companies from all genres and styles of dance. Up to 15 dance slots per show will be selected to be performed. The applicant works will be adjudicated by a diverse panel of judges that are highly knowledgeable about dance. \nHere’s how to apply: \nYou must submit the following by July 20\, 2018: \n\nSubmit Application Form: https://goo.gl/forms/exSALznRGNrOxMjU2\nPay $25 non-refundable application fee ($10 per additional pieces)\n\nThe audition Video Link must be the work that you are planning to show that has not been seen in any major Metro-Phoenix venues within 1 months prior to the show dates or a work that is representative of your repertory. \nStudio Showcase – If selected\, you must sign a letter of agreement and pay a participation fee per dance of $50 (solo)\, $75 (duet)\, $100 (3-5 dancers)\, or $150 (6 or more dancers). DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE FOR MASTER CLASS FLYER \nFree Master Class by Francesca Harper\, co-hosted by Arizona Dance Coalition and Desert Dance Theatre is sponsored by ASU Gammage\, Cultural Participation\, BEYOND SERIES. Wednesday\, April 4\, 2018\, 6:30 pm-8:30 pm at Dance Theater West\, 3925 E Indian School Road\, Phoenix AZ 85018. \nWe are fortunate to offer this free master class taught by internationally acclaimed performer and choreographer Francesca Harper\, artistic director of the Francesca Harper Project\, the week prior to Dance Theatre of Harlem for a special solo residency. \nThe master class is geared for age 18+ intermediate / advanced level dancers entitled “Creative Thinking & Performance Technique with Francesca Harper.” It is designed to help the artist develop confidence and intellectual skills in making choices in the moment\, leaving the student with a sense of artistic ownership and a deeper understanding of themselves as a performer and a human being. \nSpace is limited. Please RSVP by Tuesday\, April 3\, 2018\, at gro.ertaehTecnaDtreseDnull@asiL or text/call 602-740-9616. \nFrancesca Harper – dancer\, theatre\, singer\, arts entrepreneurship\, activist \nFrancesca Harper returns to where her professional dance career began with Dance Theatre of Harlem\, only this time as an artistic director lending her choreographic artistic vision to create a piece called “System”. The concept for the piece is grounded in topics such as race\, class\, gender\, and economics. Francesca began work on “System” (2016) three years ago\, driven by the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown at the hands of police in 2014. After performing with the Dance Theater of Harlem\, she danced as a principal in William Forsythe’s Ballet Frankfurt from 1994-1999. Since returning to the States in 2000\, Harper has performed in several Broadway productions including Fosse\, The Producers\, The Frogs\, and The Color Purple. Most recently\, Francesca was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at New York University\, a teacher for The Ailey School and the Fordham BFA Program\, and a teacher and choreographer Tony Award Director Susan Batson at the Susan Batson Studio. Francesca also enjoyed working as a ballet consultant for the feature film\, “Black Swan\,” by Darren Aronofsky\, starring Natalie Portman\, who went on to win an Oscar.
