Her work has been presented at American College Dance Association Conference (Gala and National alternate)\, California State University Long Beach\, Grand Canyon University\, The Black Artist Dance Collective\, Reed College\, DeKalb School of the Arts\, and Change Church\, among others.  As a performer\, she has appeared with the Black Angels Collective for Tobe Nwigwe at Coachella and Milan Fashion Week. Her performance credits also include the Atlanta Jr. Hawks and Falcons\, Usher’s New Look Foundation\, Atlanta Ballet and Big Boi\, andThe Nutcracker at the Fox Theatre\, National Cheer Association College Nationals (All-girl champion)\, Universal Dance Association College Nationals (finalists)\, and more. She graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University with a BA in Dance. Liz continued her studies at the SUNY  Purchase College Conservatory of Dance\, where she received an MFA. At Purchase\, Liz was the 2010 MFA Excellence Award recipient and performed works choreographed by Jose Limon\, Charlotte Boye-Christensen\, Doug Varone\, Helen Pickett\, Anna Sokolow\, Joyce Trisler\, Sophie Maslow\, and Mark Morris. After graduation\, she performed with Trio Dance Collective in NY and taught at Peridance and Ballet Hispanico. She is passionate about telling stories through dance and her choreography has been presented at Brigham Young University\, Sheridan College\, DNA\, On Site Mobile Dance Series\, White Wave SoloDuo Festival\, New Prague Dance Festival\, Utah Dance Film Festival\, RDT Link Series\, RAD Fest\, ACDA\, and the Mark Morris Dance Center. She is fascinated by abstract narrative\, interpersonal relationships\, opposition\, and the transcendence of human connection. Her constant inspiration is her incomparable husband and three beautiful children.

A dynamic educator\, performer\, and choreographer\, Barnes is globally celebrated for her musicality\, athleticism\, and infectiously joyful presence throughout the cultural traditions she bears: House\, Hip Hop\, Waacking\, Authentic Jazz\, and Lindy Hop\, among them. Her expansive artistic\, competitive\, and performative skills have made her a frequent collaborator to Dorrance Dance\, Timbre Arts Group (Singapore)\, Ephrat Asherie Dance\, and many more. Her leadership and business acumen have placed her in positions of service as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Ladies of Hip-Hop FestivalⓇ\, Vice President of Marketing & Outreach for the International Lindy Hop ChampionshipⓇ\, Co-Director of the Black Lindy Hoppers Fund and HellaBlackLindyHop Performance Troupe\, Board Member of the Frankie Manning Foundation\, and a contributing member to the NEFER Global Movement Collective. \nExpanding the scope of impact for the communities she serves\, LaTasha completed her self-designed Master’s Degree in Ethnochoreology\, Black Studies\, and Performance Studies at New York University Gallatin School in 2019. Her thesis and continuing dance research are working to bridge the gap between communities of practice and academic cultural dance research\, performance\, preservation\, and pedagogy\, as well as expand the reach of dance as a healing tool for US military veterans like herself. In concert with these efforts\, she is deeply honored to be a part of the Brain Trust developing the ground-breaking stage production SW!NGOUT\, bringing the passion and power of Lindy Hop and its community to the concert stage. She is honored to be the visionary and Artistic Director of the intergenerational and intercommunal cultural arts experience\, The Jazz Continuum\, supported by Guggenheim Works & Process and Jacob’s Pillow in 2021. This two time Bessie Award winning exploration has recently been presented by the Joyce Theater (2022)\, Celebrity Series Boston (2023)\, Bates Dance Festival (2023)\, and was awarded a NEFA National Dance Project Grant. In support of the dialogue surrounding cultural art forms\, LaTasha is a contributing author to the 2022 National Dance Education Organization Ruth Lovell Murray Book Award winning text Rooted Jazz Dance: Africanist Aesthetics and Equity in the Twenty-First Century (2021). Ensuring future artists and dance scholars maintain authentic cultural context as they move through the world bearing forth Black dance traditions\, LaTasha is honored to serve on the faculty of Arizona State University School of Music\, Dance & Theater as Assistant Professor of Dance. \nAcross all her efforts\, LaTasha’s eternal purpose is to inspire fellow artists and arts enthusiasts to champion æffective artivism through cultivating an authentic sense of self and intention in their creative expressions and daily lives. \n\n Dolly Sfeir is a director and choreographer who grew up in Lebanon and moved to the States at the age of 19. She is a 2022 NYFA/NYSCA Artist Fellow in Choreography\, the 2019 Grand Prize winner of the Palm Desert Choreography Competition\, recipient of a 2023 NYSCA choreography grant\, and a recipient of The Ann & Weston Hicks Choreography Fellowship at Jacob’s Pillow. She was awarded a residency with CUNY Dance Initiative to create an evening-length work which premiered at LPAC in Spring 2022\, and was artist-in-residence for Abingdon Theatre Company. Her company commissions include Holstebro Dansekompagni in Denmark\, WHIM W’HIM\, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company\, Battery Dance Company\, Boca Tuya\, and Litvak Dance. She has been a guest choreographer and creative practice teacher at universities such as Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University\, Marymount Manhattan College\, Chapman University\, Montclair University\, CSU Long Beach\, Orange Coast College and CSU Fullerton. \nShe has developed a creative practice methodology\, focused on unleashing creativity which she offers in universities\, studios\, and theaters nationally and internationally. She led a course in the methodology at Chapman University. New Dialect has offered her and collaborator James Barrett a research residency for a new duet. Her work has been performed in venues and festivals such Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater\, Battery Dance Festival\, Diavolo Dance Theatre\, and Dance Gallery Festival. Her film “It Cries too Loudly” has been at dozens of festivals such as San Francisco Dance Film Festival and Portland Film Fest\, and has received awards such as ‘best short film’ (Wild Dogs Festival) and ‘best cinematography’ (Eastern Europe film festival). She is movement director of the upcoming play “The Pride Before.” Her work “Everybody is happy these days” toured in Denmark. She graduated summa cum laude from CSU Long Beach with a Dance BFA. As the Managing Director of the BlakTinx Dance Festival\, now in its 7th year\, Liliana produces an annual event celebrating Black and Latinx choreographers. She also teaches a weekly dance class\, served on the Artlink Artists Council\, and actively participates in local arts initiatives. \nLiliana’s commitment to the arts has earned her accolades such as the 2015 Phoenix Mayor’s Arts Award and recognition as one of PHX Magazine’s “40 Under 40.” She has participated in Jacob’s Pillow’s National Presenters Forum\, was a 2021 National Latinos Arts and Culture Institute fellow\, and presented her work at Cornell University. Liliana is also the recipient of the City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture’s “Artists-to-Work” grant\, supporting her continued growth as an artist. \nPresentation: Learn About BlakTinx Dance Festival  \nJoin Liliana Gomez\, Managing Director of BlakTinx Dance Festival in Phoenix and a member of Latina Dance Project\, the nonprofit that produces the festival. BlakTinx Dance Festival celebrates the work of Black and Latine choreographers in Arizona while also featuring guest artists from California\, where the festival first began. The festival brings together both established and emerging artists\, creating a space for them to share their work. Discover what makes BlakTinx more than just a performance—it’s a dance concert\, a series of dance classes\, a Q&A session\, and a vibrant community gathering\, Café y Conchas! Learn how the festival started and how it’s organized. The presentation will also highlight past BlakTinx presenters who have graced Phoenix stages\, L. Alexander Patrick-Rolando and Steven Redondo\, who will share how the festival has shaped their work and careers. The session will conclude with a brief Q&A\, offering insights into the festival’s impact. \n__________________________________________________ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Lolita” Elizabeth Zuniga-Blore\, Artistic Director and Co-Choreographer\, Hoorvash Dance Company \nBio: “Lolita” Elizabeth Zuniga-Blore is a native Texan. She began her training as a young girl in San Antonio where she studied and performed Mexican Folklorico\, Spanish classical dance\, flamenco\, ballet\, jazz and other progressive dance forms. \nShe performed with a variety of dance groups which paved the way for her to be the lead dancer and eventually the choreographer for internationally acclaimed celebrity and performer\, “Charo.” Elizabeth performed on television as well as shows in Las Vegas\, Reno\, Atlantic City\, Hawaii and on luxury cruise lines. \nElizabeth studied with José Molina\, La Chiqui\, Timo Lozano\, Susanna Di Palma and Matilda Coral\, among many others. While living in Minnesota\, she was a member of Susanna Di Palma’s company\, Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theater\, and was part o the studio’s teaching staff. She lectured and demonstrated dance forms for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Cultural Partners program an the Young Audiences of Minnesota series. She also received a grant rom the Jerome Foundation. During this period\, Elizabeth was honored to be featured as a classical Spanish dancer in a special solo performance with the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra. She  additionally performed as a dancer in the opera Carmen. \nSince moving to Arizona\, Elizabeth has performed with various groups and has taught or the Maricopa Community Colleges\, School of Ballet Arizona\, and Arizona School for the Arts. She has also taught numerous workshops and classes at dance studios. \nElizabeth currently serves as the Artistic Director\, co-choreographer and collaborator with Heidi Javaheri Lisherness’ Hoorvash Dance Company. \nPresentation: Origins of Flamenco and Spanish Dance \nLearn and experience the influence of other country’s stylization of Flamenco and Spanish Dance. Bates Dance Festival rigorously trains established and emerging dance artists through workshops\, community-oriented programs\, and advances the field by supporting new work. From local youth to global professionals\, the Festival convenes to create\, perform\, and witness vibrant and vital dance works. \nThis sample class hosted at Arizona State University is led by Natalie Gotter\, Director of Training Programs at BDF. Equal parts celebration\, community-building\, and strong technical practice\, this 75-minute movement class invites you into the BDF experience for a morning where we will fly\, sweat\, laugh\, and celebrate the joy of moving with other people in space and learn more about the 2025 Festival including internships\, scholarships\, and any questions you have. The class will be rooted in both post-modern and social movement practices\, offering a small sample of what you will experience at Bates this summer!

DESCRIPTION:ASU Dance Festival\nInterested in studying dance in college?\n\nJoin us and learn more about the ASU dance program! At this free event\, you will participate in workshops\, talk to faculty and students\, and register  for complimentary tickets for our upcoming performances. Come by yourself\, bring a friend or bring a group of students to enjoy the ASU Dance Festival. We would love to have you join us! \nSaturday\, November 16\, 2024\n8 a.m. to 2 p.m.\nASU Tempe campus\nBulldog Hall \nExperience dance courses in person: Participants will attend workshops with the ASU dance faculty to experience what taking classes at ASU is like. Topics may include contemporary ballet\, somatic practices\, Afro-Latin movement practices\, creative practices\, hip-hop\, postmodern contemporary\, dancing histories\, improvisation\, choreographic prompts\, social and partnering\, collaborative work and discussion. \nIntroductions and community engagement: An interactive event where you will meet the director and dance faculty. Attendees will have the opportunity to introduce themselves. \nCurrent student performances and Q+A session: See performances by current students and ask questions about what a typical day in the life of a dance major at ASU looks like. \nDance facilities: Experience our state-of-the-art studio and performance spaces\, see where you will learn and dance on campus\, and learn more about the courses you can take in the ASU dance program. \nAttend dance events: Prospective students are encouraged to attend upcoming dance performances and will have the opportunity to request comp tickets to these events. \nWhat to bring: Dress comfortably and be prepared to dance. You should also bring water and have lunch.
