Since then\, Jen has traveled the world in her tap shoes performing and teaching!  \nThe Phoenix Tap Festival was born in 2013 when she started the event called Just West of Broadway\, a performing arts intensive weekend. Specifically\, the presentation will include discussions about its agency’s programming\, grant programs\, upcoming events\, and the newly released Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 study results.  \nChris Elliott\, a Special Initiatives and Communications Coordinator\, is serving at the Arizona Commission on the Arts as a Public Ally AZ Member for his second year. Originally from New Jersey\, he grew up immersed in a variety of musical activities. In 2019\, he received a B.A. in Sociology and Music\, from Goucher College. In 2022\, he received a M.M. in Music Theatre from Arizona State University. Chris has always had a passion for the arts and performing. Combining that with his interests in sociology and musicology\, he decided to apply his skills and interest to the Arts Administration world. He brings to the Arizona Commission on the Arts experience in community engagement and outreach\, project management\, and communications. Chris’s first year with the Arizona Commission on the Arts had him successfully complete the Arts and Economic Prosperity 6 Study for the state of Arizona. In his spare time\, Chris can be found performing in various musicals throughout the Phoenix area.  \n  \n \nDelia Ibañez is a multidisciplinary artist and administrator working to decenter the self and create worlds inspired by the ancestors – both human and fungal. Delia’s personal body of work\, Process in Place\, has four branches – workbooks\, residencies\, collections\, and workshops – which all intertwine to form networks of inquisitive creative action directly impacted by geographical context. The geographical communities that shape this work are the Northern Neck of Virginia and Metro Phoenix Arizona. Delia is proud to serve to individual artists of the state of Arizona as Artist Programs Coordinator for Arizona Commission on the Arts\, managing the Artist Opportunity Grant and facilitating the Artist Investment Program. \nDelia Ibañez graduated from Arizona State University in 2020 with a BA in Performance and Movement. Since then they have worked steadily in the Dance sector as a teacher\, choreographer\, performer\, and administrator. Delia is currently collaborating with Greybox Collective utilizing their Trauma Informed Creative Practices model. As a member of several national networks\, including Latin Hispanic Dancers United and the Queer Farmer Network\, they offer expertise as a community engagement specialist and freelance program coordinator particularly within latinx and rural communities. Delia Ibañez has been awarded grant funding through NALAC\, City of Phoenix\, Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts\, and Arizona Commission on the Arts. \n_________________________________________________________ \nSuzy Guarino-Hall\, Tap 24.7 \nPresentation: “My Love Affair with Tap”\nEmbark on a journey into the rhythmic realm of tap dancing with me as I delve into my enduring passion for this timeless art. In my presentation\, I will weave a narrative that traces the footsteps of historical tap dance masters who inspired me in my youth\, while also illuminating the evolving depth of my appreciation for the craft. Join me in exploring the legacy I impart to my students and the innovative concepts and creations that will propel the art of tap into a vibrant future. \nPlease participate in Suzy’s tap dance class.  \nSuzy Guarino-Hall\, holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Loyola University Chicago\, and is the visionary behind the Phoenix-based tap company\, Tap 24.7. In this role\, she has crafted\, produced\, and directed 13 original shows\, captivating audiences not only in Phoenix but also in cities like Detroit\, Seattle\, and San Diego. From the enchanting “Tappy the Elf” to the gripping “Murder at The TAP’Ocho\,” Suzy’s productions showcase her versatility and creativity. \nAs a tap dance choreographer and teacher\, Suzy imparts her expertise through workshops at esteemed events such as Motor City Tap Fest and Phoenix Tap Fest. Her influence extends to dance competitions\, where she serves as show director for AMP Dance Competitions adjudicator for In10sity Dance\, demonstrating her keen eye for talent and artistic expression. \nIn the Phoenix area\, Suzy is a respected figure at The Dance Project\, Take Five Dance Academy\, and LA Dance\, where she choreographs for competition groups\, garnering multiple national awards for her outstanding work. Her students\, under her guidance\, consistently earn national titles\, a testament to her exceptional teaching and choreographic skills. \nCurrently in her ninth year as adjunct faculty for the dance department at Grand Canyon University\, Suzy teaches tap at all levels\, leaving an indelible mark on the next generation of performers. Beyond being a dancer and choreographer\, Suzy Guarino-Hall is a storyteller\, shaping the narrative of tap dance and leaving an enduring legacy in the hearts of those she inspires. \n_________________________________________________________ \n Daniela Borgialli\, International Argentine Tango Academy \nPresentation: Argentine Tango: Moving Beyond Patterns\nThis dance that was birthed during a huge planned immigration in the late 1800’s is alive and well today as a global phenomenon. What makes this dance form so compelling\, not just as a spectator but as a dancer?  \nPlease participate in the dance class: Argentine Tango Connection 101  \nDaniela Borgialli has been teaching performing dancing Argentine Tango for more than 25 years. Once the tango bug bit she went wherever she could for more! She received her MFA in Dance from ASU and taught Tango 1 and Tango 2 at ASU for 10 years. She built the syllabus and curriculum and in 2015 published The Tango Workbook (currently under revision) to accompany students in their Argentine Tango journey. Although a self-proclaimed social dancer\, she trained and competed in over 5 Argentine Tango competitions in the US and in Argentina. In 2012 she and her partner received 2nd place in the US Tango Salon Championship in San Francisco. In 2015 she moved to Europe where she was based in Berlin and taught and performed throughout Europe. In 2016 she received certification from her maestra\, Graciela Gonzalez to teach her methodology. In 2023 she returned to Arizona to found the International Argentine Tango Academy and is happily teaching Tango 1 at ASU again as well as several courses as adjunct faculty at Mesa Community College.

SUMMARY:Mitote Dance Intensive (Tempe)
DESCRIPTION:Mitote Dance Intensive is a three-day contemporary dance workshop led by TRANZE Danza Contemporanea\, a distinguished Mexican dance company. This workshop aims to enhance dancers’ skills\, encourage intercultural collaboration\, and provide a unique experience with these international artists and their unique styles. \nParticipants will engage in classes\, collaborate on a dance piece with Mexican instructors and showcase their work on an open informal show Sunday\, February 11\, 2024 at 4:30pm followed by a Q&A session. In the 2020–21 season\, the company doubled in size and made its debut at The Joyce Theater. DESCRIPTION:All levels are welcome.  For those students with aerial experience\, this class offers the next step to advancing their skills.  This course will concentrate on the importance of fluidity while dancing on the trapeze as well as how to incorporate dance on the floor.  In addition to learning aerial skills\, students work on building spatial awareness\, trust & cooperation. Students will learn new hangs\, swings and work on all skills learned previously.  The full session is 8-weeks.
