SUMMARY:Convergence Ballet Fall Pop-up (Phoenix)
DESCRIPTION:Join Convergence Ballet for a FREE fall pop-up performance featuring stunning choreography by Kevin Jenkins\, a Bob Fosse inspired classic and excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty. It is an evening showcasing classical and contemporary ballet\, and theatre jazz paying homage to one of Broadway’s best. This FREE pop-up performance will take place Saturday\, Oct. 7th from 6:00 – 7:00pm in the Pavilion at the Herberger Theater Center. \nKevin Jenkins will be setting his piece Pastoral Symphony on Convergence company members to create themes and motifs that highlight the classical vocabulary as well as the moving formations through Beethoven’s score of the same name. An original piece by Lainie Seretis will also be featured that explores the nature of the seasons of life and the universal themes many can relate to. A Cabaret classic\, Mein Herr will showcase company members letting their hair down and kicking up their heels. And to round out the evening variations from The Sleeping Beauty will be performed.

We strive to choose beneficiaries that address community issues\, especially those that affect marginalized and underserved areas. This year’s beneficiary is ASAVET CHARITIES. Asavet Charities is a 501(c)(3) (tax-exempt) non-profit organization created in Arizona in 2014 to help animals and their owners. Their goal is to promote affordable veterinary care for all people. We offer a welcoming space for dancers regardless of background or experience. Through our inclusive programs and productions we raise funding and awareness for Southern Arizona animal rescues and pediatric cancer organizations.\nAbout Us:\nWe are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization based in Tucson\, Arizona. We work with other community dance projects to create a diverse and exciting annual dance showcase benefiting Southern Arizona animal rescues. In 2019\, we premiered The Leaps for Lives Annual Spring Show which allowed us greater opportunity to do more good for Southern Arizona animal rescue organizations and pediatric cancer research organizations. Our creative modern adaptations of ancient customs such as La Mascarada\,  La Visita\, The Flight of Quetzalcoatl\, and Las Coronas\, promote our multicultural heritage while preserving our traditions.\n\n\nThe Dia de Los Muertos Phx Festival will take place at Steele Indian School Park (on 3rd Street and Indian School Rd) in Phoenix\, AZ.  The Artists Mercado features some of Arizona’s best local artists. There will also be food booths\, kids arts activities and of course\, and the traditional Candlelight Procesión. We also provide a Community Altar.
