Jami will share a little bit about herself and share some of the things that were successful and what she learned on the journey to accomplish her fundraising goals. \nBio: As director of development for the ballet since 2015\, Kozemczak has a record of consistently meeting and exceeding contributed revenue goals to advance the organization. During her tenure at Ballet Arizona\, the organization established a culture of philanthropy that permeates throughout the entire organization. Kozemczak has secured more than $36 million in contributed revenue during her time at Ballet Arizona and led the charge for the Be Our Bridge Recovery and Relief Fund that ensured all staff members and dancers remained fully employed during the Covid-19 crisis.  \nKozemczak’s experience in arts non-profit management includes fundraising\, public relations\, communications\, donor relations\, and marketing. Beginning her career as a marketing professional\, she quickly transitioned to fundraising after discovering her true vocation was helping connect donors to their passion. Kozemczak holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Arizona State University. She is co-chair for the AFP Professional Mentoring Program and a board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. \n  \nSteve Conrad\, Founder and Director of Arizona Lindy Hop Society \nPresentation: The Transformative Power of Dance\nSteve Conrad will discuss how dance can be used to help heal trauma and build resilience in children and adults. Beginning with the Lindy Hop which was created and developed by the Black community in Harlem during the jazz age and going though decades of dance that coincided with transformative history through the 1930s\, 40s\, 50s and 60s in the United States and around the world. Specifically\, Steve will share the story of Wu\, a refugee from Vietnam who transformed her own life by learning how to ballroom dance. \nDance Class: Learn to Swing Dance\nJoin Steve Conrad of the Arizona Lindy Hop Society for a fun swing dance lesson. Swing dancing is a partner dance that originated in Harlem\, NY in the late 1920s and spread across the country and the world in the 1930s and 40s. It is enjoyed today all over the world by dancers of all ages and backgrounds. No partner needed. \nBio: Steve Conrad is the founder and director of the Arizona Lindy Hop Society which focuses on preserving and sharing American born dances from the jazz and rock and early roll eras of the 1920s through the early 1960s. He has been teaching Lindy Hop and swing dancing for more than 26 years and has traveled around the world teaching with tours across the US\, Europe\, and China. His first Lindy Hop teacher was the legendary Frankie Manning and Steve produced the Arizona Swing Jam workshop with Frankie in AZ for 14 years until Frankie’s passing at age 94. Steve was featured on ABC’s “The Bachelorette\,” HGTV’s “House Hunters\,” Arizona Highways TV\, and NBC’s “Little Big Shots: Forever Young.” Steve is also a certified ballroom dance teacher for Dancing Classrooms and was trained in New York by ballroom dance champion\, Pierre Dulaine\, who has been the subject of several films including “Mad Hot Ballroom\,” “Take the Lead\,” and “Dancing in Jaffa\,” all which address the transformative power of dance. Steve helped lead a pilot program for teaching ballroom dance to people experiencing homelessness at the Human Services Campus in Phoenix and has used dance as a healing modality for children in the foster care system by teaching for Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona. Steve was the director of the Ballroom dance program at Mesa Community College and is often a guest teacher at Scottsdale Community College and Xavier College Prep.  \n  \nDavid Olarte\, Founder and Co-director of Stilo Dance  \nPresentation: Social Performance: Strategies Towards Cultural Immersion and Interconnectivity \nDavid’s presentation highlights social dance as a strategy towards cultural immersion and community interconnectivity. As founder and director of Stilo Dance\, as well as Clinical Assistant Professor at ASU’s School of Music\, Dance\, and Theatre\, provides his artistic framework and lens towards building sustainable dance communities both in academia and in our local community. As the social fabric continues to be shaped by the participation of inter-generational identities\, David shares insight on the short and long term approach towards inclusive programming and re-imagining\nboth learning and performance spaces.  \nDance Class: Rhythmic Narratives in Afro-Latin Dance \nThis workshop will look at Afro-Latin rhythm and musicality\, specifically connecting clave with Afro-Latin movement. Connecting key patterns from the ground up provides a framework for engaging the roots and corporeal expressivity in Afro-Latin Social dance. \nBio: David Olarte (MFA\, MA) is an Afro-Latinx dancer (salsa\, mambo\, and contemporary couple dance) with over 20 years of choreography\, performance\, and instruction. As founder and co-director of Stilo Dance\, David has shared Stilo’s aesthetic interpretation of contemporary salsa\, which is rooted in Salsa on 2\, latin jazz\, and David Zambrano’s couple dancing technique. Stilo has graced the stage as finalists at the World Latin Dance Cup\, performing at Jacob’s Pillow’s Inside Out series\, and continues to perform in various salsa festivals and congresses. As Clinical Associate Professor for ASUs School of Music\, Dance\, and Theatre\, David centers Afro-Latinx context by creating new curriculum and programming\, such as Latin Sol Festival\, to support student learning\, performance\, and community engagement opportunities on campus. He’s currently pursuing a PHD in Theatre Performance of the Americas and researching where social dance lives within our communities.

But how do we maximize skill learning in our clients? This lecture will introduce you to the science behind skill acquisition and how to directly apply that to teaching movement\, be it dance\, Pilates\, yoga or any other movement-based practice. The lecture is centered on the teacher’s role in facilitating skill learning. \nABOUT GREGORY YOUDAN\nGreg Youdan\, MA\, MS is a dance scientist with a Masters in Motor Learning and Motor Control from Teachers College\, Columbia University. He has guest lectured at Columbia University Medical Center\, Barnard College\, New York University\, University of Rochester among others. He frequently speaks at scientific conferences and publishes in academic journals. Greg worked as a professional modern dancer and Certified Pilates instructor in NYC. Much of his dance career was spent with dance and disability\, working as a rehearsal director\, administrative assistant and dancer and now board member with Heidi Latsky Dance. He is currently a Wertheimer Dance for PD® Teaching Fellow and a National Association for Latino Arts and Cultures Advocacy Leadership Fellow. He sits on the development and strategic planning committee for the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and the research committee for the National Organization for Arts in Health (NOAH). \n\nTammy Rosen\, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Dance Educator \nTammy will teach a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson for the feet that can be done sitting in a chair or on the floor. \nThe Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education is a powerful and revolutionary approach to improving your life that uses gentle\, mindful movement to bring new awareness and possibility into every aspect of your life. Developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais\, the Feldenkrais Method has helped millions of people worldwide. \nYou can increase your ease and range of motion\, improve your flexibility and coordination\, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful\, efficient movement. Since how you move is how you move through life\, these improvements will often enhance your thinking\, emotional regulation\, and problem-solving capabilities. \nThe Feldenkrais Method is based on principles of physics\, biomechanics\, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. By increasing sensitivity\, the Feldenkrais Method assists you to live your life more fully\, efficiently\, and comfortably. \nABOUT TAMMY ROSEN\nTammy completed four years of training in the Feldenkrais Method at the Feldenkrais Institute of San Diego in 2010. As a professional modern dancer\, teacher\, choreographer and former dance studio owner\, she is intimately aware of the importance of good bio-mechanics for optimal performance. It is her passion to help others improve in their chosen field or recover from injury or other limitations. She has extensive experience with stroke recovery\, joint replacement recovery\, back pain\, TMJ\, feet/ankle problems and high performers like dancers or athletes.

Life is marked by rituals – as our original theater – and I dedicate my life to performance becoming function ritual for transformation.Now ‘dreamvisioning’ as the Director/Choreographer of DANCING EARTH my work is made through living culture which is my research; working closely over years with diaspora of intertribal elders and community members in many locations with which I have a cyclical relationship. My process is thus the story of “we” – inter-generational\, multilingual\, inter- tribal convergence of artists\, culture-carriers\, farmers\, activists\, community members\, dissolving borders to move into collaborative practices that become dance forms embodying sustainability\, resilience\, and vitality as expressions of multi-perspectivist ancestral worldviews of collaborators as well as myself.My current project cultivates a new vision for Indigenous Futurities\, a youth led vision for life. It emerges from a space in between\, the marginal zone for those who don’t fit in one place or another\, which becomes a liminal threshold place of limitless potential and the weaving of relations between disparate ways of being\, “between underground and skyworld”… \n“I am so happy to meet with dance community of Arizona\, in an informal conversation that reflects the past\, present and future of Dancing Earth within the ecosystem of dance of the Southwest. I look forward to sharing conversation about our differences and commonalities\, like desert plants finding unique ways to thrive.”

SUMMARY:Arizona Dance Festival 2018 Application
DESCRIPTION:Dear Dance Artists and Companies\, \nI would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming Arizona Dance Festival (ADF) that will take place at Tempe Center for the Arts Studio on October 18-21\, 2018. The festival will give you or your company great exposure\, and it’s a fun way to share your art with colleagues from around the state and guests from out of state. \nThe Arizona Dance Festival is open to individuals and emerging artist groups as well as professional companies from all genres and styles of dance. Up to 15 dance slots per show will be selected to be performed. The applicant works will be adjudicated by a diverse panel of judges that are highly knowledgeable about dance. \nHere’s how to apply: \nYou must submit the following by July 20\, 2018: \n\nSubmit Application Form: https://goo.gl/forms/exSALznRGNrOxMjU2\nPay $25 non-refundable application fee ($10 per additional pieces)\n\nThe audition Video Link must be the work that you are planning to show that has not been seen in any major Metro-Phoenix venues within 1 months prior to the show dates or a work that is representative of your repertory. \nStudio Showcase – If selected\, you must sign a letter of agreement and pay a participation fee per dance of $50 (solo)\, $75 (duet)\, $100 (3-5 dancers)\, or $150 (6 or more dancers). Each dance may not exceed 10 minutes (no exceptions). This fee will go towards facility\, production\, publicity and other expenses. \nSite Specific Performances – This is a new addition to the festival that gives dancers an alternative performance opportunity in the outdoor areas around the Tempe Center for the Arts. Our not-for-profit partners will also be on hand to share information on resources available for Title I schools. Additionally\, throughout the 2 days of the conference\, the ADE will proudly showcase Arizona student works in the Arts and STEAM. The exhibit hall will be open from 8:00am-3:30pm at the Phoenix Convention Center\, South Building on Saturday\, October 28\, 2017. \n\nADC Members: If you have educational materials that you would like us to share at this conference and/or you would like to volunteer to man the table\, PLEASE CONTACT Lisa Chow at gro.noitilaoCecnaDzAnull@asiL or text at 602-740-9616. \n\nThe 25th Annual School’s Out\, Make It Count Conference will attract approximately 800 attendees from 11 Arizona counties\, representing 120 out-of-school time youth programs from: School Districts\, City Parks & Rec Departments Charter Schools\, Boys & Girls Clubs\, YMCAs\, Libraries\, Community Centers\, Faith-Based Programs and more! \n\n\nThis is Arizona’s largest statewide education conference. School’s Out\, Make It Count features a morning keynote address\, followed by a wide range of professional development workshops dedicated to STEM\, Literacy\, Social and Emotional Development\, Program Leadership\, Fitness and Nutrition\, and more. \nThe purpose of this conference is to provide out-of-school time youth program staff with high-quality professional development on a variety of youth development best practices and resources. These staff will leave School’s Out\, Make It Count with new skills and tools that they can immediately use to broaden\, enrich and improve their programs\, and create new out-of-school time opportunities for the youth they serve. \n\n\n\n\nOUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME encompasses all programs that serve K-12 youth in the hours outside the formal school day –\nafter school\, before school\, on weekends\, during summer and other school breaks. Washington. While we were successful in ensuring the state budget include funding for the Arizona Commission on the Arts in the amount of $1.5 million\, we intend to work to persuade state senators and representatives to vote for a $2 million allocation for the FY18 budget. Your voice is crucial to this effort. The day will only be a success if advocates like you join us\, and visit with your state legislators to talk about the impact of arts and culture in your community and the importance of public support for the arts.
