DESCRIPTION:TUCSON TANGO FESTIVAL is BACK! Marriott Tucson University Park\nEight Milongas 42 Hours of Dancing | Thursday July 1st through July 4th\, 2021 \n\nREGISTRATION IS CLOSED. YOU MAY SIGN UP FOR THE WAIT LIST HERE. CANCELLATIONS ARE EXPECTED. DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe restrictions listed are as if the event is occurring now. Any changes that can be made before the event will be made. Please base your decision to register on worse case scenario of nothing changing. \nThe 2021 Tucson 4th of July Tango Festival is a gender balanced\, attendance restricted – capped at 300 – event being held at the Tucson Marriott University Park Hotel during the July 4th  weekend.  If necessary\, this will be an extremely restricted event. \nEverything possible will be done to make it a safe event for participants and non-participants.  All attendees must agree to and adhere to all protocols.  There will be no exceptions.  Anyone not adhering to the protocols agreed to will be removed from the event. We will do everything possible to maintain the “feel” that we have all come to enjoy about this dance but be aware that the near future of dancing together is being tested.  We believe we have put together protocols that can be duplicated and allow dancing to resume. All attendees must do their part to help that become a reality. \nIn order to complete the registration process you must acknowledge your acceptance of both the Covid-19 Waiver Agreement and Event Protocols Agreement. These are the maximum restrictions.  If the situation allows\, we will ease or remove any restrictions possible.  These changes will be made at our discretion based on information from the science community that is advising us. \nThese are some basic things that will be implemented by the organizers if necessary. \n1) The ballroom and dance floor will be large compared to the allowed number of attendees. If registration dictates\, a second space will be added. \n2) Cortinas will be a full minute to allow time to wash hands with every partner change. \n3) Attendees will maintain the same seat for each milonga.  Less chairs per table. \n4) No seats will be right against the floor.  This area will be reserved for handwashing stations. \n5) There will be no communal food served.  All snacks will be pre-wrapped individual items. \nThe complete list of protocols that attendees must agree to are on the registration page. \nWe will eliminate any protocols that we can based on the situation at the time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEARLY BIRD PRICES\nGood Through May 3rd\, 2021. Prices will increase 20% on May 4th\nMilonga Pass $135 | Milonga Pass Fri-Sun $120 \nStudent Milonga Pass $90 CLASSES\nRegistration for Classes not open at this time.\nSingle Class $25 \nIndividual milongas not on sale at this time and probably will not be available at the door.   \nRegistration Note: All classes will be attendance restricted\, require purchasing in advance and sold ala-carte. Classes will go on sale as soon as all titles and formats are set. Some classes will be progressive so that two classes will have to  be purchased together. Everyone that registers before classes go on sale will receive the link to register for classes 48 hours before new registrations. \nThere may not be on-site or individual milonga passes sold. Festival passes are transferable but the person receiving the pass must register and accept both the waiver and protocol consent forms. If you are not able to attend\, or if the event is forced to cancel\, your registration will be refunded minus 5% service charge to cover credit card fees on both ends of the transaction. If you pay cash your refund will be 100%. You may apply the registration fee towards a future festival.

SUMMARY:UA Presents CHE MALAMBO (Tucson)
DESCRIPTION:UA Presents CHE MALAMBO (Tucson)\nThe powerhouse all-male Argentinian dance company\, Che Malambo\, excites audiences with their percussive dance and music spectacle. Malambo is a dynamic blend of precision footwork\, rhythmic stomping\, drumming and song which originated in the 17th century in the South American pampas. It evolved from competitive duels amongst the Argentine gaucho (South American cowboy) that tested agility\, strength and dexterity. It soon evolved to include what is now its hallmark\, zapeteo\, the fast-paced footwork inspired by the rhythm of galloping horses. Malambo also features the drumming of traditional Argentine bombos and whirling boleadoras\, a throwing weapon made up of intertwined cords and weighted with stones. \n“A thrilling display…fourteen stomping\,drumming\, roaring men pounded rapid-fire rhythms into the ground with many surfaces of their feet – heels\, toes\, inside and especially the outside edges – and with spinning boleadoras\, floor skimming stones attaced to lassos…a rousing group spectacle.”  THE NEW YORK TIMES \nChe Malambo was born from the heart of the gaucho tradition and is now thrilling audiences around the world with this new production created by director and choreographer Gilles Brinas. Tickets $19-45. \nPhoto by Diane Smithers
