DESCRIPTION:PRESS KIT\n\n\nJune 11-13 and 16-20\n2025 \n\n\n\n\nAnnouncing the Inaugural Sedona Choreography Retreat!\nPremiere Works by Nayon Iovino\, Christel Veraart & LaTasha Barnes – Featured Works by George Balanchine\, Robert Bondara & Natasha Adorlee \n\n\nBuy Tickets\n\n\nJoin us for an unforgettable week of transformation\, creativity\, and artistic exploration at the very first Sedona Choreography Retreat! Presented by Sedona Ballet in collaboration with Ballet Arizona\, this immersive event invites both artists and audiences to experience the full journey of dance-making—from the first flicker of inspiration to the final performance on stage. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe retreat culminates in a final performance on June 20\, featuring an exciting lineup of new and celebrated works. \nNayon Iovino\, Ballet Arizona’s Choreographer in Residence\, will premiere Santa Fe and Esmeralda\, a dynamic new collaboration with composer\, author\, and filmmaker Christel Veraart. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe’re also honored to present an excerpt from George Balanchine’s iconic Serenade\, performed with permission from the prestigious Balanchine Foundation. \nAcclaimed dancer\, choreographer\, and scholar LaTasha Barnes will debut Flow State\, a centerpiece of her larger Flow State Project\, a groundbreaking interdisciplinary work that translates movement into data and transforms that data into immersive soundscapes. \nEmmy Award-winning choreographer\, filmmaker\, composer\, and educator Natasha Adorlee will present her Vastwave with dancers from Ballet Arizona’s Studio Company. \nRounding out the evening is Polish choreographer Robert Bondara’s powerful duet Take Me With You\, set to the music of Radiohead. \nA featured highlight of the retreat is Conversations with Nathan\, a public series hosted by long-time Sedona resident Nathan Quinn Jenkins. These engaging talks offer a rare look into the creative heartbeat of live performance. Through candid\, behind-the-scenes conversations\, Q will explore the many dimensions of artistic production—from choreography and collaboration to music\, visual arts\, fundraising\, and grant writing. \nAll events take place at the Sedona Performing Arts Center (995 Upper Red Rock Loop Rd\, Sedona\, AZ)\, where conversations\, performances\, and artist encounters will inspire and ignite. \nDon’t miss this groundbreaking celebration of dance\, music\, and storytelling—set in the heart of Sedona’s stunning red rock landscape. Be part of something truly extraordinary! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Choreography Retreat is made possible through the generous support of our grantors and donors. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Arizona Community Foundation as our primary grantor\, along with the Arizona Commission on the Arts for their invaluable support. \nA special thank you to our lead donor\, Mary Byrd\, whose extraordinary generosity made it possible to sponsor our Artistic Director\, Nayon Iovino. We are also deeply grateful to Winifred Muench and Chuck Marr for their meaningful contributions and shared commitment to elevating the arts in our community. \nTheir collective vision and support ensure the success and sustainability of our mission to celebrate artistic excellence and innovation. \n\n\nDonate
