Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and has since been presented by Arts Brookfield\, Baryshnikov Arts Center\, Brooklyn Academy of Music\, Carolina Performing Arts\, Duke Performances\, Harkness Dance Festival\, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival\, The Joyce Theater\, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts\, the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, and Vail International Dance Festival\, among others.   \nJohn Heginbotham\, Choreographer  \nOriginally from Anchorage\, Alaska\, John Heginbotham graduated from The Juilliard School in 1993\, and was a member of Mark Morris Dance Group (1998–2012). In 2011\, he founded Dance Heginbotham\, a New York-based contemporary dance company that has toured nationally and internationally. Heginbotham is a recipient of the 2018 Guggenheim Fellowship and the 2014 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award.  \nSought after as a freelance choreographer\, Heginbotham’s projects include RACECAR for The Washington Ballet (2019); the Tony Award®-winning revival of Oklahoma!\, directed by Daniel Fish (Bard Summerscape\, 2015; St.Ann’s Warehouse\, 2018; Broadway\, 2019; National Tour\, 2021/22; Young Vic London\, 2022); and John Adams’s Girls of the Golden West\, directed by Peter Sellars (San Francisco Opera\, 2017; Dutch National Opera\, 2019). Heginbotham is the director of the Dartmouth Dance Ensemble and is a founding teacher of Dance for PD®\, an ongoing collaboration between the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group.

Unexpected experiences emerge that are authentic and evocative of the diverse lived experiences of the Southwest. \nFLAGSTAFF’S ARTX INVITES THE CREATIVE CONTRIBUTIONS OF MANY TO CREATE A CURRENT\, EXPERIENTIAL\, INTERACTIVE\, AND EVER EVOLVING FESTIVAL.  \nINTRODUCING ARTX:  ART + IDEAS EXPERIENCE ARIZONA Launching with a pilot event May 26–27\, 2023 featuring two days of events\, presentations\, and art-centered experiences in Flagstaff\, AZ. \nWHAT IS ARTX? Providing a regional and national platform for local artists\, creatives\, and thinkers\, ARTx is an annual\, accessible community opportunity to engage with the arts in an immersive and interactive way. \nARTx will play a critical role in helping Creative Flagstaff fulfill its mission to foster creative opportunity and affirms the commitment to interdisciplinary creativity. A festival\, done right\, focuses philanthropy and corporate support for arts and culture\, gains the attention of the media\, gets the community involved\, focuses collaborative and interdisciplinary energy\, and leaves a lasting and positive impact on the community\, year after year. \nDance is a big part of the event with a two-night performance outdoors at Human Nature Dance Theatre space at 4 W. Phoenix Ave. in downtown Flagstaff. Performances will start at 6pm and are free to the public. Human Nature Dance Theatre is planning collaborative performance events at Phoenix Avenue in the parking lot outside Human Nature Dance Studio\, Phoenix Art Gallery and the Hive. Our overarching theme is Climate Change and how we can live in harmony with our natural world. \nWe will have a central performance area with two or three stages and space for our audience to sit and stand. Asavet Charities is a 501(c)(3) (tax-exempt) non-profit organization created in Arizona in 2014 to help animals and their owners. Their goal is to promote affordable veterinary care for all people. We offer a welcoming space for dancers regardless of background or experience. Through our inclusive programs and productions we raise funding and awareness for Southern Arizona animal rescues and pediatric cancer organizations.\nAbout Us:\nWe are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization based in Tucson\, Arizona. We work with other community dance projects to create a diverse and exciting annual dance showcase benefiting Southern Arizona animal rescues. In 2019\, we premiered The Leaps for Lives Annual Spring Show which allowed us greater opportunity to do more good for Southern Arizona animal rescue organizations and pediatric cancer research organizations. We are proud to have made thousands of dollars in contributions to these organizations in our first 10 years!\n\n\n\nThis program was funded in part by Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona with funding from National Endowment for the Arts Federal CARES\, City of Tucson\, and Pima County
