But how do we maximize skill learning in our clients? This lecture will introduce you to the science behind skill acquisition and how to directly apply that to teaching movement\, be it dance\, Pilates\, yoga or any other movement-based practice. The lecture is centered on the teacher’s role in facilitating skill learning. \nABOUT GREGORY YOUDAN\nGreg Youdan\, MA\, MS is a dance scientist with a Masters in Motor Learning and Motor Control from Teachers College\, Columbia University. He has guest lectured at Columbia University Medical Center\, Barnard College\, New York University\, University of Rochester among others. He frequently speaks at scientific conferences and publishes in academic journals. Greg worked as a professional modern dancer and Certified Pilates instructor in NYC. Much of his dance career was spent with dance and disability\, working as a rehearsal director\, administrative assistant and dancer and now board member with Heidi Latsky Dance. He is currently a Wertheimer Dance for PD® Teaching Fellow and a National Association for Latino Arts and Cultures Advocacy Leadership Fellow. He sits on the development and strategic planning committee for the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and the research committee for the National Organization for Arts in Health (NOAH). \n\nTammy Rosen\, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Dance Educator \nTammy will teach a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson for the feet that can be done sitting in a chair or on the floor. \nThe Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education is a powerful and revolutionary approach to improving your life that uses gentle\, mindful movement to bring new awareness and possibility into every aspect of your life. Developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais\, the Feldenkrais Method has helped millions of people worldwide. \nYou can increase your ease and range of motion\, improve your flexibility and coordination\, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful\, efficient movement. DESCRIPTION:Adrian “Lobo” Miramontes Popping Master Class\nChandler-Gilbert Community College Dance Program is hosting an open master class with Adrain “Lobo” ~ Popping I: Foundations and Fundamentals. This will be an introductory class to the street dance style of popping aka Pop’lock\, including all its sub styles. Understand the fundamentals to the Popping dance style such as grooving\, technique\, isolations\, and the foundational hitting technique. The class will begin with an introductory lecture\, followed by technical drills\, a group choreography segment\, and finally concluded with a dance “cypher” (an improvisational dance exercise). \nAdrian “Lobo” Miramontes is a movement artist utilizing the art of dance to inspire mastery of body & self. He specializes in the street dance styles of Popping (aka Pop’lock) consisting of Waving\, Tutting\, Robotics\, Boogaloo\, and Footwork. He also has a background as a Yoga\, Tai-Chi\, and meditation instructor. Lobo gracefully weaves urban street dance with eastern philosophy into a powerful and dynamic system of dance which he has created. He artfully wields the beauty of movement and dance through innovative performance art and immersive workshops to help awaken our highest potential. Outside of Dance\, Adrian Lobo is a certified Yoga & Qi Gong Instructor\, Internal martial arts practitioner\, healer\, and holistic health coach. DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn more about meaning and musicality in creating dance through the process of Kaberi Sen (Odissi Dancer) and Anjan Saha (Sitarist).  We will also get a glimpse of some of their work live in a traditional intimate setting.  Tea and snacks will be served.  Donations are welcome.  Venue details will be sent to the registrant list on Eventbrite.   \nKaberi Sen is an Odissi dancer and scholar.  A recipient of several awards\, she is a graded artist of Doordarshan TV\, scholarship recipient from the Department of Tourism & Culture of India and from Rabindra Bharati University\, where she has just completed her PhD.  Anjan Saha is a Sitar exponent.  He is an empanelled artist of ICCR\, a graded artist for All India Radio and scholarship recipient from the Department of Tourism & Culture of India\, and has been recognized with several awards.  They have both performed extensively in India and Europe\, have several compositions to their credit\, and are the founders of Divine Inspiration School of Performing Arts in Kolkata\, India.
