Presented by Sedona Ballet in collaboration with Ballet Arizona\, this immersive event invites both artists and audiences to experience the full journey of dance-making—from the first flicker of inspiration to the final performance on stage. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe retreat culminates in a final performance on June 20\, featuring an exciting lineup of new and celebrated works. \nNayon Iovino\, Ballet Arizona’s Choreographer in Residence\, will premiere Santa Fe and Esmeralda\, a dynamic new collaboration with composer\, author\, and filmmaker Christel Veraart. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe’re also honored to present an excerpt from George Balanchine’s iconic Serenade\, performed with permission from the prestigious Balanchine Foundation. \nAcclaimed dancer\, choreographer\, and scholar LaTasha Barnes will debut Flow State\, a centerpiece of her larger Flow State Project\, a groundbreaking interdisciplinary work that translates movement into data and transforms that data into immersive soundscapes. \nEmmy Award-winning choreographer\, filmmaker\, composer\, and educator Natasha Adorlee will present her Vastwave with dancers from Ballet Arizona’s Studio Company. \nRounding out the evening is Polish choreographer Robert Bondara’s powerful duet Take Me With You\, set to the music of Radiohead. \nA featured highlight of the retreat is Conversations with Nathan\, a public series hosted by long-time Sedona resident Nathan Quinn Jenkins. These engaging talks offer a rare look into the creative heartbeat of live performance. Through candid\, behind-the-scenes conversations\, Q will explore the many dimensions of artistic production—from choreography and collaboration to music\, visual arts\, fundraising\, and grant writing. \nAll events take place at the Sedona Performing Arts Center (995 Upper Red Rock Loop Rd\, Sedona\, AZ)\, where conversations\, performances\, and artist encounters will inspire and ignite. \nDon’t miss this groundbreaking celebration of dance\, music\, and storytelling—set in the heart of Sedona’s stunning red rock landscape. DESCRIPTION:Ballet Arizona presents Juan Gabriel Studio Spotlight\nJoin us on April 22nd at 7 pm for an evening of dance\, drinks\, and art! Tickets cost $30 and space is limited. This evening lets you peek behind the curtain of Ballet Arizona’s performance of Juan Gabriel. Get a perspective few others experience as a member of our artistic staff leads a rehearsal\, answers questions and interviews dancers. \nBefore the show\, join us for a reception featuring local artists Liliana Mora\, Allen Puma\, and Camila Ibarra. They will be painting artworks inspired by Juan Gabriel throughout the evening. These works will then be auctioned off on Opening Night\, with all proceeds going directly to the artists. \nThen\, attendees will get to hear from a member of our Artistic staff\, who will talk about the creative process behind the show\, explaining how this world premiere went from concept to reality. \nTickets are only $30 and space is limited for this one-evening-only\, intimate event.
