DESCRIPTION:Pima Community College SALSA & Ballroom (Tucson)\nPima Community College Social Dance courses are designed as a ‘sampler’ to give individuals an opportunity to experience different music\, rhythms\, and patterns. The use of the ‘triple step’ and common patterns across styles is explored. A field trip to a community dance ‘party’ ends the semester. \nThe courses promote the health benefits of dancing with lessons in goal setting\, practice\, and self-evaluations. There is no focus on ‘competition.’ \nTO AVOID CLASS CANCELLATIONS DUE TO LOW ENROLLMENT (many wait until the last minute to enroll and are then disappointed to learn the course was cancelled)\, ENROLL NOW! \nCANCELLATION DEADLINE (low enrollment) is AUGUST 26th! \nPima Community College (PCC)\, West Campus\, offers a 14-week Salsa/Latin Dance course\, 1 credit or audit\, under the Fitness and Wellness (FAW) program\, on Tuesdays from 6:40-8:45 pm\, in the Fitness Sports Science Bldg\, Room 102 (furthest NW corner of the campus). Beautiful hardwood floor and mirrors. Classes begin September 10. Latin dances introduced are Salsa\, Cumbia\, Bachata\, Cha Cha Cha\, Samba\, Merengue\, and Rumba/DANZON. FAW 123F\, Course # (CRN) 10982 \nPCC West Campus\, 2202 W Anklam\, Tucson (west of I10/St Mary’s exit | Greasewood & Anklam intersection | enter on Greasewood and drive towards the free-standing building on the northwest corner of the campus\, adjacent to the track field and courts) \n_______________________________________________ \nPCC Northwest Campus offers a 14-week Ballroom/Latin Dance course\, 1 credit or audit\, also under the Fitness and Wellness (FAW) program\, on Saturdays from 4-6:05 pm. Classes are held adjacent to the campus at the NW YMCA/Aerobic Studio\, with a beautiful hardwood floor and mirrors. All students will need a PCC ID for secured access. She is owner of DancInc\, a free-lance educator\, administrative and management consultant\, and she is Treasurer of two Arizona nonprofits: Arizona Dance Coalition and the Tucson Jazz Music Foundation. \n_______________ \nTuition: $84.50 + registration fees (1 credit or audit). DESCRIPTION:Dear Dance Artists and Companies\, \nI would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming Arizona Dance Festival (ADF) that will take place at Tempe Center for the Arts Studio on October 18-21\, 2018. The festival will give you or your company great exposure\, and it’s a fun way to share your art with colleagues from around the state and guests from out of state. \nThe Arizona Dance Festival is open to individuals and emerging artist groups as well as professional companies from all genres and styles of dance. Up to 15 dance slots per show will be selected to be performed. The applicant works will be adjudicated by a diverse panel of judges that are highly knowledgeable about dance. \nHere’s how to apply: \nYou must submit the following by July 20\, 2018: \n\nSubmit Application Form: https://goo.gl/forms/exSALznRGNrOxMjU2\nPay $25 non-refundable application fee ($10 per additional pieces)\n\nThe audition Video Link must be the work that you are planning to show that has not been seen in any major Metro-Phoenix venues within 1 months prior to the show dates or a work that is representative of your repertory. \nStudio Showcase – If selected\, you must sign a letter of agreement and pay a participation fee per dance of $50 (solo)\, $75 (duet)\, $100 (3-5 dancers)\, or $150 (6 or more dancers). Each dance may not exceed 10 minutes (no exceptions). This fee will go towards facility\, production\, publicity and other expenses. \nSite Specific Performances – This is a new addition to the festival that gives dancers an alternative performance opportunity in the outdoor areas around the Tempe Center for the Arts. Each dance may not exceed 5 minutes (no exceptions). If selected\, you must sign a letter of agreement and pay a participation fee per dance of $25.
