SUMMARY:Pima CC Salsa & Ballroom Students Host Latin Dance Party Tucson
DESCRIPTION:Pima Community College (PCC) Salsa & Ballroom students of instructor Krystyna Parafinczuk are hosting a Latin Dance Party and you are invited. It will be held on Tuesday\, May 1\, 7-9 pm\, on the West Campus outdoor basketball courts adjacent to the Fitness Sports Science Center. Celebrate Cinqo de Mayo\, semester-end\, and year-end! \nThere will be a ZUMBA warm-up\, a beginning dance lesson assisted by the students and open dancing to a variety of Latin dance styles: salsa\, rumba\, cumbia\, bachata\, merengue and cha cha cha. In addition\, the Ritmos Latinos Dance Club (University of Arizona) will perform Rueda de Casino and a beginner’s circle will be called. Rueda de Casino is performed in a circle with a ‘caller\,’ similar to contra dance\, to Latin music. It is a dance style originating in Cuba\, and now danced all around the world. The footwork is similar to Salsa\, utilizing a triple-step\, with interesting patterns and a continual changing of partners. \nPot Luck! Refreshments and snacks will be served. \nFree. \nPictured below: Ritmos Latinos Dance Club performing for PCC students and guests\, May 2016. Photo by Nancy Gamboian.
