DESCRIPTION:Tony Award-winner and Broadway superstar Idina Menzel (Wicked\, Rent\, Frozen\, Glee) will reprise her critically-acclaimed performance as Elizabeth in IF/THEN\, a role and a Broadway musical written specifically for Ms. Menzel. \nThis “fascinating\, ambitious\, and original new musical (New York Post)\,” with unforgettable songs and a deeply moving story by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning creators of Next to Normal\, follows two distinct storylines in the life of Elizabeth\, a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life in that city of infinite possibilities.  When her carefully designed plans collide with the whims of fate\, Elizabeth’s life splits into two parallel paths. IF/THEN follows both stories simultaneously as this modern woman faces the intersection of choice and chance. \n\nTuesday\, January 12\, 2016 – 7:30 pm\nWednesday\, January 13\, 2016 – 7:30 pm\nThursday\, January 14\, 2016 – 7:30 pm\nFriday\, January 15\, 2016 – 7:30 pm\nSaturday\, January 16\, 2016 – 2:00 pm\nSaturday\, January 16\, 2016 – 7:30 pm\nSunday\, January 17\, 2016 – 1:00 pm\nSunday\, January 17\, 2016 – 6:30pm

SUMMARY:Sister Moses: The Story of Harriet Tubman
DESCRIPTION:Sister Moses: The Story of Harriet Tubman\n\n\nSister Moses: The Story of Harriet Tubman is a beautiful story of a courageous woman’s determination to free her people from slavery through the Underground Railroad.  She was one of America’s first liberated women of color\, who fought against all odds for the sake of freedom and equality. Our goal in producing this program is to bring light to the incredible accomplishments of Harriet Tubman\, the anti-slavery activist. This powerful dance drama features Desert Dance Theatre with Renee Davis as Harriet Tubman\, dramatic narration by Renee Morgan Brooks\, African drumming and music direction by Step Raptis\, accompaniment by a string quartet and traditional spirituals sung by a choral ensemble featuring baritone soloist\, Greg Dansby. The unique blend of this 45-minute multidisciplinary presentation highlights the most important episodes of Harriet Tubman’s life.Sister Moses is a valuable educational tool in bringing this period of history alive. It shares the knowledge and experience of the struggles and accomplishments of Harriet Tubman that will bring a source of inspiration to students and adults alike. The program follows Tubman’s life as a young slave on a Southern Plantation\, her attempts to escape slavery\, her work on the Underground Railroad\, and her contributions to the Abolitionist movement. Slave songs from that period are featured for their significance as a means of passing information among the slaves. Hidden in the lyrics were vital escape details.\n\n\n\n\nMATINEE PERFORMANCE:\nMarch 1\, 2016 (Tuesday 10:15am) \nSister Moses: The Story of Harriet Tubman\nChandler Center for the Arts\, 250 N Arizona Avenue\, Chandler\, Arizona \nMatinees are available by reservations only through DDT. The original company\, Pilobolus Dance Theater\, has been touring its 115 pieces of repertory to more than 64 countries during the past four decades. \nNamed after a barnyard fungus that propels its spores with extraordinary speed\, accuracy and strength\, Pilobolus was founded in 1971 by a group of Dartmouth College students and quickly became renowned the world over for its witty and gravity-defying works using the human body as a medium of expression. SUMMARY:Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder ASU Gammage
DESCRIPTION:Getting away with murder can be so much fun… and there’s no better proof than the knock-‘em-dead hit show that’s earned unanimous raves and won the 2014 Tony Award® for BEST MUSICAL—A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER! \nComing direct from New York\, where a most gentlemanly NPR critic said he’d “NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD AT A BROADWAY MUSICAL\,” GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE tells the uproarious story of Monty Navarro\, a distant heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession by – you guessed it – eliminating the eight pesky relatives (all played by one fearless man) who stand in his way.  All the while\, Monty has to juggle his mistress (she’s after more than just love)\, his fiancée (she’s his cousin but who’s keeping track?)\, and the constant threat of landing behind bars! Of course\, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance… and be done in time for tea. \nThe Hollywood Reporter raves\, “GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE RESTORES OUR FAITH IN MUSICAL COMEDY” and The New York Times cheers\, “IT WILL LIFT THE HEARTS OF ALL THOSE WHO’VE BEEN PINING FOR WHAT SOMETIMES SEEMS A LOST ART FORM.” – See more at: ASUGAMMAGE.COM \nShowtimes: \nTuesday-Friday\, March 15-18\, 2016 – 7:30pm \nSaturday\, March 19\, 2016 – 2:00pm \nSaturday\, March 19\, 2016 – 7:30pm \nSunday\, March 20\, 2016 – 1:00pm \nSunday\, March 20\, 2016 – 6:30pm \n
