Our goal in producing this program is to bring light to the incredible accomplishments of Harriet Tubman\, the anti-slavery activist.This powerful dance drama features Desert Dance Theatre with Renee Davis as Harriet Tubman\, dramatic narration by Renee Morgan Brooks\, African drumming and music direction by Step Raptis\, accompaniment by a string quartet and traditional spirituals sung by a choral ensemble featuring baritone soloist\, Greg Dansby. The unique blend of this 45-minute multidisciplinary presentation highlights the most important episodes of Harriet Tubman’s life.Sister Moses is a valuable educational tool in bringing this period of history alive. It shares the knowledge and experience of the struggles and accomplishments of Harriet Tubman that will bring a source of inspiration to students and adults alike. The program follows Tubman’s life as a young slave on a Southern Plantation\, her attempts to escape slavery\, her work on the Underground Railroad\, and her contributions to the Abolitionist movement. Slave songs from that period are featured for their significance as a means of passing information among the slaves. The event was started in 2000 by independent filmmakers as an opportunity to showcase independent filmmaking and it has quickly become Arizona’s Largest Film Festival. \nThe Phoenix Film Festival annually screens over 150 films\, holds amazing parties and provides filmmaking seminars to capacity audiences. Over 25\,000 attendees enjoy the 8 day festival. The Festival takes place all in one convenient location and is held on 7 screens at the Harkins Scottsdale/101. All parties and workshops are held right on site so you don’t miss a thing.

For more information\, see www.ComedyForCharity.org. \nTwin Celebrity Impressionists Take Break From World Tour to Bring Vegas-Style Act to Tucson for One Special Night \n(TUCSON\, Ariz.) — The Edwards Twins\, identical twin celebrity impressionists who are selling out concert halls around the world\, will return to their childhood home of Tucson for a special charity performance at the Fox Theatre on Sunday\, April 10\, at 6:30 pm. \nAlumni of Rincon High School\, Anthony and Eddie Edwards have toured the globe for two decades with their high-energy performances bringing song\, dance\, and comedy to the stage through realistic portrayals of Elton John\, Cher\, Barbra Streisand\, Bette Midler\, and other stars from the more than 100 in their repertoire. Extravagant designer costumes and elaborate make-up will add just the right elements to bring the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip to downtown Tucson for this one-night engagement. \nThe evening will be emceed by Arizona Daily Star editorial cartoonist David Fitzsimmons\, also a Rincon High School alumnus\, and Pima County Attorney Barbara LaWall\, a Rincon alumnus as well\, will commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week with a special presentation. \nThe program will also include performances by the Rincon High School/University High School Choir\, Egokillaz\, winners of the National Hip Hop Championship\, and the senior tap revue Rodeo City Wreckettes. \n“We are excited to be coming home with a show that will entertain the entire ­­­Anthony Edwards\, the Vegas-style act’s producer and Eddie’s elder brother (by four minutes).  “We truly hold Tucson close to our hearts!” \nThe evening’s proceeds will benefit the Tucson Musician’s Museum\, Shared Hope\, and Comedy for Charity.
