SUMMARY:The Ladies | Room for Two\, A Drive-Up Pop-Up (Scottsdale)
DESCRIPTION:The Ladies | Room for Two\, A Drive-Up Pop-Up Performance\nScottsdale Civic Center Parking Garage\, Upper Level \nOctober 22-26\, 6:30 & 8 pm | Two performances each night \nSet in a parking garage\, The Ladies arrive at their secret catch-up spot to find a crowd. With the help of the garage attendant\, Stan\, The Ladies host the audience in an impromptu party. From trivial pursuit to smooth jazz\, audience members can expect a hilariously awkward and fun experience—from the safety of their cars.  \nThe Ladies are a zany\, awkward pair of moms\, clinging to the past to get through today.  \nWith a fresh ability to laugh at life’s most routine moments\, physical comediennes Marlene Strang and Leanne Schmidt have been performing together since 2016. They bring their wacky and awkward style of movement and live theatre into the most surprising and unexpected locations.   \nProfessionally trained dancers\, they have been featured at Chandler Center for the Arts\, Triskelion Arts in Brooklyn NYC\, the Beta Dance Festival in Phoenix\, Center for Visual Arts in Denver\, the Regional Alternative Dance Festival in Kalamazoo\, and were showcased at the 50th Anniversary of Dance at ASU. Previous productions include Ladies in the Headlights\, Ladies Gone Mild\, and Let Your Lady Out in venues around the Valley.

SUMMARY:Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company's - "Continuous Replay: Come Together in support of Black Lives Matter."
DESCRIPTION:Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company\n“Continuous Replay: Come Together in support of Black Lives Matter”\nThursday\, 11/19/20\n6:00 PM\nhttps://contribute.newyorklivearts.org/event/continuous-replay/e308090 \nViewers will need to register in advance. Donations are optional. Enter $0 in the donation field for a free registration. \n \nDescription: Amidst the isolation and racial uprisings in the early summer of 2020 as the Covid-19 Pandemic continued its spread\, forty-four current and former company members came together (while being apart) to create something as a community in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. At the center of this virtual presentation is a recreation of Arnie Zane‘s Continuous Replay\, an iconic work which was originally a duet and a solo. In 1991\, three years after Arnie’s passing at the height of the AIDS pandemic\, Bill T. Jones made Arnie’s choreography into a full company work. Continuous Replay has connected generations of company members and was\, for most of them\, the only way to know Arnie. The diverse cast of performers spanning four decades—including Arthur Aviles\, Sean Curran\, Odile Reine-Adelaide\, Stefanie Batten Bland\, Rosalynde LeBlanc\, Heidi Latsky\, Jenna Riegel\, and many others—filmed themselves while in isolation across four continents. The original soundtrack is created by composer John Oswald and editing of the videos was done by Associate Artistic Director Janet Wong. \nThe live-streamed fundraiser event on Nov 19 will benefit three remarkable organizations – Black Strategy Fund\, The Brotherhood SisterSol\, and Buy From A Black Woman. The evening begins with a conversation between Bill T. Jones and Anthony D. Romero\, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)\, and will be joined by the directors of the three organizations\, Patrisse Cullors\, Khary Lazarre-White\, and Nikki Porcher. The event will culminate with the premiere of Continuous Replay: Come Together. 100% of the donation collected from now until Nov 27 through this event will go to the three organizations. \nSpecial thanks to our live stream partners: American Dance Festival\, ASU Gammage\, UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance & The University of the Arts

SUMMARY:Dorrance Dance (Scottsdale) CANCELLED / will be RESCHEDULED
DESCRIPTION:Myelination (2017)\, choreographed by Michelle Dorrance\, is a full-company work featuring original\, live music by Donovan Dorrance and Gregory Richardson with vocalist Aaron Marcellus. This “exhilarating ensemble piece\,” in which each dancer is both an ensemble member and an improvisational soloist\, challenges the performers to take risks and achieve new heights of technical and musical execution inside of the form of tap dance.   \nIn addition\, Bessie-Award winning Three to One (2011)\, and the whimsical Jungle Blues (2012) complete this program\, illustrating the great range that this company is known for.  \nDorrance Dance was founded in 2011 by MacArthur “Genius” Award recipient and artistic director Michelle Dorrance. Dorrance Dance aims to honor tap dance’s uniquely beautiful history in a new and dynamically compelling context\, not by stripping the form of its tradition\, but by pushing it rhythmically\, aesthetically\, and conceptually.   \nPresented at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts\nVirginia G. SUMMARY:BANDALOOP Vertical Dances on the UA MALL! (Tucson)
DESCRIPTION:BANDALOOP Vertical Dances on the UArizona Campus MALL! \nArizona Arts Live (formerly UA Presents) brings us BANDALOOP to dance vertically on the UArizona Mall buildings during Reading Days March 9-10 (no Spring Break this year). It’s outside! Wear your masks and stop the spread! \nMar 8\, 10a-1p & 3p-6p | Mar 9\, 1p-6p | Mar 10\, 10a-1p & 3p-6p | Mar 11\, 1p-6p \nBANDALOOP honors nature\, community\, and the human spirit through perspective-bending\, vertical dance. Using buildings on the UArizona Campus Mall as a dance floor on its side\, BANDALOOP creates a new and original performance suited for the times we are all living in. \nYouTube promo \nA pioneer in vertical performance\, BANDALOOP seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality\, intricate choreography\, and climbing technology to turn the dance floor on its side. BANDALOOP’s site-reactive work has been presented worldwide in theaters and museums\, on skyscrapers\, bridges\, billboards\, and historical sites\, in atriums and convention halls\, in nature on cliffs\, and on screen. \nBANDALOOP will be performing continuously during the times listed above. These experiences are part of the March 9-10 Reading Days. The faculty senate approved a decision to replace the 2021 Spring Break with a series of Reading Days spread throughout the Spring 2021 semester. This adjustment to the academic calendar is a necessary component of our ongoing commitment to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the Tucson community and across the nation by reducing travel by faculty\, staff and students. \nABOUT BANDALOOP \nFounded by choreographer Amelia Rudolph and under the artistic direction of Melecio Estrella\, BANDALOOP re-imagines dance\, activates public spaces\, and inspires wonder and imagination in audiences around the world. The company trains dancers and youth at home and on tour\, and has performed for millions of people in over 22 countries in Europe\, Africa\, the Middle East\, the Americas\, and Asia\, and on screens in films and digital media. \nBANDALOOP is based in Oakland\, CA\, where the company creates work for its bi-annual home season and for touring performances presented around the globe each year.  Education and outreach are also an intrinsic part of the company’s mission. In addition to its ongoing work with youth\, BANDALOOP offers regular classes\, camps\, and intensives at its home studio and in the mountains\, and team building programs for business executives.

SUMMARY:"Tootsie" ASU Gammage 2021-2022 Broadway
DESCRIPTION:It’s “far and away the funniest musical of the season” (Daily News). It’s “the most uproarious new show in years” (The Hollywood Reporter). It’s “the best comedy on Broadway” (Forbes). No matter how you say it\, TOOTSIE is unanimously funny! It’s a laugh-out-loud love letter to the theatre\, based on the Oscar®-nominated film. \nFeaturing a Tony®-winning book by Robert Horn and an outrageously clever score by 2018 Tony® winner David Yazbek (THE BAND’S VISIT\, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS)\, this New York Times Critic’s Pick is a “hilarious\, thoroughly modern TOOTSIE” (People Magazine) that’s “even funnier than the movie!” (New York Post). “In these turbulent times\, with the world out of balance\, we need a place to let the good times roll\,” says Rolling Stone\, “TOOTSIE is it.”
