DESCRIPTION:The Pima Community College Social Dance courses are designed as a ‘sampler’ to give individuals an opportunity to experience different music\, rhythms\, and patterns. The use of the ‘triple step’ and common patterns across styles is explored. A field trip to a community dance ‘party’ ends the semester. The courses promote the health benefits of dancing with lessons in goal setting\, practice\, and self-evaluations. There is no focus on ‘competition.’  \nPima Community College (PCC)\, West Campus\, offers a 14-week Salsa/Latin Dance course\, 1 credit or audit\, under the Fitness and Wellness (FAW) program\, on Tuesdays from 6:40-8:45 pm\, in the Fitness Sports Science Bldg\, Room 102 (furthest NW corner of the campus). Beautiful hardwood floor and mirrors. Created by Jennifer Cafarella\, director of Ballet Theatre of Phoenix\, Convergence Ballet is a local nonprofit organization comprised of dancers from across the country. Each summer they put on a one-of-a-kind performance that gives back to the community. This year Convergence Ballet is showcasing Iluminar! \n“This season is especially intriguing because we have four new dancers and three new choreographers joining the Convergence Ballet family\,” Cafarella said. “In Iluminar! we have four pieces running through the entire spectrum of talents from the dancers. These include classical ballet\, swing and contemporary pieces and showcase three new world-premiere works. This show will include a diverse array of classical and contemporary productions showcasing incredible artists. We will illuminate the stage.” \nMadison Schools recently celebrated the opening of its 24\,547-square-foot Madison ESD Performing Arts Center\, which includes a 900-seat auditorium as well as a spacious lobby that can seat 200 for pre-function events. DESCRIPTION:AzDEO Student Choreography Contest 2018-19: Submission dates 10/15\, 1/15\, and 3/15 \nAzDEO is pleased to announce its Student Choreography Contest for 2018-19. Students in middle and high school\, and college are encouraged to submit their choreography for adjudication. Only the choreography will be judged\, but performance can affect the quality of the choreography. Choreographer does not have to be a performer. \nSubmission Criteria \n\nThis year’s theme is “Landmarks” ~ can be a physical location\, a “landmark moment” in your life\, a landmark moment in history\, a landmark event.\nMaximum length: 4 minutes. Must include your name\, age and school at the beginning of the clip.\nWritten artistic statement must also be included with your name\, age\, and school.\nSubmissions are due Oct. 15th\, Jan. 15th and March 15th.
