As of 8/9/21\, Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA) remains committed to a health and safety conscious approach to minimizing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The Delta variant of COVID-19 has proven quite troublesome. In response to the CDC’s new mask guidance\, the City of Tempe reinstituted a mask requirement for all individuals who enter city facilities\, including TCA\, regardless of vaccination status. We are currently assessing the implications of this requirement on events within TCA. We are also coordinating with our arts and culture colleagues in the Valley to plot a path forward through the uncertainty of the fall. We will be in contact again with an update as soon as we have new information. PERFORMERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS AT ALL TIMES\, EXCEPT WHEN PERFORMING ON STAGE OR PERFORMANCE AREAS.\n\nTCA HEALTH AND SAFETY – PATRON VACCINE POLICY. As of 9/7/21\, the City of Tempe is implementing the following COVID-19 policy: Patrons attending ticketed events at Tempe Center for the Arts are required to provide proof of full vaccination and are required to wear a mask. An official vaccination card or a digital photo are accepted forms of proof. We will be checking vaccination cards at the main entrance\, as well as at the Box Office. Patrons will be notified with a link to the TCA website for more information. (This does not apply to performers at this time.)\n\n\n\nEVENT CANCELLATION/CHANGE/REFUND POLICY: Please be aware that the City of Tempe has the power to change its policy or close TCA due to excessive numbers of Delta Variant/COVID-19 cases. If for any reason that the live performance must be cancelled or changed\, DDT will propose a contingency plan which may allow the festival to continue as a hybrid or fully virtual presentation. Depending on whether there is a full cancellation or change\, we can access and address refunding part or all of the participation fees at that time.

A true feast for both eyes and ears\, In Creases kicks off Ballet Arizona’s 2021-2022 season. \nLes Patineurs \nChoreography by Sir Frederick Ashton\nMusic by Giacomo Meyerbeer \nAfter its Ballet Arizona premiere in 2019\, this charming collection of vignettes by Sir Frederick Ashton is skating back to the stage as we gladly welcome cooler weather here in the desert. This one-act series of divertissements evokes the movements of ice-skating and invites viewers to escape to a simpler time. \nMambaz \nChoreography by Nayon Iovino\nMusic by Josiel Perez and Company \nNayon Iovino\, named “Best Up-and-Coming Choreographer” by AZCentral brings back this electric audience-favorite that he created in 2019 to honor Artistic Director Ib Andersen’s 20th Anniversary with Ballet Arizona. Don’t miss this fun and festive Latin-inspired celebration featuring live music performed by Josiel Perez and Company.

DESCRIPTION:The Arizona Dance Coalition welcomes these presenters for our Annual ADC Member Meeting held on Friday\, November 19\, 9 am-noon (ZOOM). Join us. \nFree to ADC members in good standing. $10 nonmembers (view RSVP Form for payment instructions). \nRSVP Form: https://forms.gle/EXjmHQL6BXaS8oj37 \nGregory Youdan\, MA\, MS\, Human Movement Scientist\, Data Scientist\, Data Scientist\, Science Communicator  \nUSING THE SCIENCE OF MOTOR LEARNING TO MAKE YOUR STUDENTS LEARN \n\nAs dance teachers and movement educators\, we deeply care about our students and their personal success. But how do we maximize skill learning in our clients? This lecture will introduce you to the science behind skill acquisition and how to directly apply that to teaching movement\, be it dance\, Pilates\, yoga or any other movement-based practice. The lecture is centered on the teacher’s role in facilitating skill learning. \nABOUT GREGORY YOUDAN\nGreg Youdan\, MA\, MS is a dance scientist with a Masters in Motor Learning and Motor Control from Teachers College\, Columbia University. He has guest lectured at Columbia University Medical Center\, Barnard College\, New York University\, University of Rochester among others. He frequently speaks at scientific conferences and publishes in academic journals. Greg worked as a professional modern dancer and Certified Pilates instructor in NYC. Much of his dance career was spent with dance and disability\, working as a rehearsal director\, administrative assistant and dancer and now board member with Heidi Latsky Dance. He is currently a Wertheimer Dance for PD® Teaching Fellow and a National Association for Latino Arts and Cultures Advocacy Leadership Fellow. He sits on the development and strategic planning committee for the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and the research committee for the National Organization for Arts in Health (NOAH). \n\nTammy Rosen\, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Dance Educator \nTammy will teach a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson for the feet that can be done sitting in a chair or on the floor. \nThe Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education is a powerful and revolutionary approach to improving your life that uses gentle\, mindful movement to bring new awareness and possibility into every aspect of your life. Developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais\, the Feldenkrais Method has helped millions of people worldwide. \nYou can increase your ease and range of motion\, improve your flexibility and coordination\, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful\, efficient movement. Since how you move is how you move through life\, these improvements will often enhance your thinking\, emotional regulation\, and problem-solving capabilities. \nThe Feldenkrais Method is based on principles of physics\, biomechanics\, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. Moshe Feldenkrais said\, “We move according to our perceived self-image.” By expanding your perception and increasing awareness\, you will become more aware of your habits and tensions and develop new ways of moving. By increasing sensitivity\, the Feldenkrais Method assists you to live your life more fully\, efficiently\, and comfortably. \nABOUT TAMMY ROSEN\nTammy completed four years of training in the Feldenkrais Method at the Feldenkrais Institute of San Diego in 2010. As a professional modern dancer\, teacher\, choreographer and former dance studio owner\, she is intimately aware of the importance of good bio-mechanics for optimal performance. It is her passion to help others improve in their chosen field or recover from injury or other limitations. She has extensive experience with stroke recovery\, joint replacement recovery\, back pain\, TMJ\, feet/ankle problems and high performers like dancers or athletes.
