(Description at the end of this post) \n𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧: Footprints at the Fox is a one-night-only event that seeks to showcase the choreographic talent of Ballet Tucson’s own company artists. Our dancers are given the opportunity to craft their own unique choreographic works for their fellow artists\, with an emphasis on showcasing our Ballet Tucson Apprentices; giving you the chance to see our up-and-coming dancers demonstrate their skill and versatility in featured roles. This performance is also interactive\, as attendees vote for their favorite piece. The winning choreographer gets to see their work performed on the mainstage as a part of our Spring Concert\, March 22-24\, 2024\, at the Leo Rich Theater\, Tucson Convention Center\, Downtown Tucson. \n𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧: From the first days of The Fox in the 1930s the children of Tucson gathered in the theatre every week for the Mickey Mouse Club. At a time of segregation\, there was none for Mickey Mouse Club attendees. Discounted and free entry was offered to countless kids who couldn’t afford the 10-cent ticket\, and many of the attendees got the chance to develop public speaking and performance skills on the theatre’s stage. The Fox was truly a home for ALL of Tucson’s youth from all walks of life. \nToday\, The Fox Tucson Theatre keeps that vision alive with the KITT (Kids In The Theatre) Youth Arts and Culture Program\, providing  a wide range of uplifting and enriching youth-oriented programming: \n\nPublic family shows\nSchool matinee shows\nHistoric theatre tours for students\nSubsidized rentals for local youth performing arts groups\nComplimentary ticket distribution to youth rising above adversity\nCommunity literacy events\n\n

SUMMARY:Films.Dance Screening | A GLOBAL FILM SERIES PRODUCED BY JACOB JONAS THE COMPANY
DESCRIPTION:Films.Dance is Jacob Jonas The Company’s global platform and creative studio for dance. Through non-traditional collaborations across cultures and continents\, Films.Dance produces and presents original film works through the intersection of dance\, music\, choreography\, and fashion. \nHow it works \nJacob Jonas The Company (JJTC) creatively directs and produces the work on Films.Dance\, focusing on themes of celebrating the human spirit; strong relationships to nature; artistic mediums responding to each other through process and result; illustrating diversity in age\, culture\, background\, race\, ability\, and sexuality\, and capturing authentic expression. \nThe series is centered around non-traditional collaborations\, where JJTC pairs artists who have never worked together and who often live in opposite corners of the world. For example\, a Montreal-based choreographer worked with a dancer in Shanghai and a composer in London. Two self-taught dancers in Nigeria were in a process with a New York City-based choreographer to a score by a Los Angeles musician. A dancer with disabilities in London learned the choreography of an artist in Australia and performed to a score by a Berlin-based orchestra. \n  \n\nThank you to our 2023–24 Series Sponsors and Partners \nBetty Hum & Alan Yudell\, Karen & John Voris\, and WESTAF.

SUMMARY:In Between\, a modern dance exploration of change (Flagstaff)
DESCRIPTION:In our thirtieth year\, Canyon Movement Company proudly presents The In-Between\, a modern dance exploration of change. The company has gone through a lot of changes in the last two years. And we are celebrating all that has come from it: new relationships\, new partnerships\, new dancers\, choreographers\, and stories told through movement. A special film of a live dance performance in the Grand Canyon with a live string quartet will be featured.  So in-between all of the holidays\, festivals\, and hum-drum of life\, the company along with guest artists will present an exploration of change through movement. \nPerformances are November 17-18\, 7:30 p.m.\, at the Coconino Center for the Arts \nSuggested donations at the door: $15/general\, $10/child-student\nCanyon Movement Company includes Breanna Lengyl\, Natalie Jones\, Danika Rudd\, Laura Covey\, and Zhuoting Wu with director Gina Darlington. Guest artists include Ahlers’ Dance\, Human Nature Dance Theatre\, Sedona Dance Academy\, Rebecca Whitehurst\, Daniel Cunningham\, and community youth dancers. \nCheck our website www.canyonmovementcompany.org for more information\nThis performance is supported in part by funds from the City of Flagstaff and Creative Flagstaff\, and the Arizona Commission on the Arts with funds from the National Endowment for the Arts.
