DESCRIPTION:cancelled – Tucson Tango Festival returns to Casino Del Sol for its 11th Tango Fest! \nA stellar cast of instructors\, performers and DJs are scheduled to excite the Argentine Tango community visiting Tucson from across this country and from countries around the globe where people TANGO! The ballroom is spacious\, high ceilings and very elegant with beautiful hardwood flooring owned by the Tucson Tango Festival. \n  \nThis year’s festival will offer three progressive classes every day. Attendees will not need to pre-sign up. Just drop in. Each session will offer an ‘all levels’ class\, an intermediate class\, and an advanced class. Teachers will rotate through the levels so that they can be accessible to more students. \nTUCSON TANGO FESTIVAL WORLD-CLASS INSTRUCTORS \nSofia Saborido & Pablo Inza will focus on connection – ‘It’s All About The Embrace.’ Sofia has a extensive background in theatre\, ballet\, modern and jazz dance. The deep musicality and quality of movement in her dancing is based on a refined and sensitive connection. Being the great granddaughter of Enrique Saborido\, a legendary dancer\, musician and composer of tangos like La Morocha\, Felicia and others\, she was literally born with tango in her veins. In 2006 she won the fourth place in the tango championship of Buenos Aires. Since then she dedicates her time on teaching and performing mainly in Europe but also in United States and Asia. Frequently invited to some of the largest tango festivals in Europe and North America\, Pablo has been teaching and performing around the world since 1999. An excellent teacher with a great capacity for analysis and an innate sense of musicality\, Pablo’s classes are popular amongst dancers of all levels. \nLiz and Yannick Vanhove started dancing Tango together when they were teenagers. In 2012 they won the European championship in the category Tango Salon and became vice-champions of Tango Escenario. They were finalists at both the World Championship and the Metropolitan Championship in Buenos Aires for Tango Salon. The couple has performed at the most famous milongas in Buenos Aires: Sunderland Club\, Canning\, La Baldosa\, Villa Malcolm\, La Confiteria Ideal\, El Beso and many more. They have been guest-dancers at the legendary Esquina Homero Manzi for the show “Un par de tangos\,” as well as in Teatro Alvear on Corrientes with the orchestra Colectivo Tango. Liz and Yannick have taught classes in Buenos Aires at the Escuela Argentina de Tango (NEAT) in the Galerias Pacifico\, at the Estudio Mario Morales in San Telmo and at the Bella Vista Tango Club in San Miguel. \nPaloma and Maximiliano inspire students to enjoy the embrace and love for tango\, promoting the connection and improvisation between couples. This award-winning couple with 20 years performing\, competing and teaching experience\, has participated in festivals and workshops in Europe\, South America\, North America and Asia. Awards: 1st place World Tango Championship TAFISA 2008 (Busan\, South Korea)\, 2nd place World Tango Championship 2007 (BA\, Argentine)\, 6 finals World Tango Championship (BA\, Argentine)\, and several 1st places in national competitions in Chile between 2001 and 2006. \n  \nOscar Casas and Marie Roach. He is especially interested in the dynamics and cadencia of the dance. Everything he teaches is applicable to crowded milongas. Marie Riolo Roach has been dancing since the age of 8. She competed\, performed and taught ballroom and Latin dance and discovered Argentine Tango in 2003\, a pivotal moment in her career. Her vast experience in instructing a variety of dance forms has added to her ability to reach all students regardless of level or ability to learn. DESCRIPTION:USING BARTENIEFF IN CONTEMPORARY TEACHING APPLICATIONS\nAzDEO presents Using Bartenieff in Contemporary Teaching Applications with instructor Angela Rosenkrans. Workshop will explore how to incorporate the overarching ideologies of Bartenieff Fundamentals into the teaching of contemporary dance forms. Participants will utilize the concepts of working in the “Big X” and morph them into the space. Class will include traditional “Big X” work then progress into contemporary floor work and center work. \nAngela Rosenkrans is the Dance Program co-director at Scottsdale Community College and founding member/Artistic Director for Rosenkrans Dans which premiered in the summer of 2012. Angela received her BA in Dance from Centenary College of Louisiana and her MFA from Sam Houston State University. She has been teaching and choreographing for the past 25 years at colleges and dance studios in Colorado\, Texas\, Arizona and Louisiana. She has performed professionally with Rosenkrans Dans\, Ormao Contemporary Dance\, Scorpius Dance Theatre\, CONDER/dance\, 32 Flavors and Lizcasebolt Dance. \nSupported by the Arizona Commission on the Arts with funding from the State of Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts. \nADA STATEMENT  \nAzDEO does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission or access to\, or treatment or employment in its services\, programs or activities. One part parody and one part loving homage\, The Trocks simultaneously honor the traditions of ballet with high-level performance while also poking fun at the conventions that define ballet. This all-male troupe revels in playing with gender roles and identity. The Trocks illustrate how decades of exploring and challenging a genre (40 years) can still be fun and celebratory at the same time. Their hilarious spoofs of famous ballets like Don Quixote\, Swan Lake and Nutcracker are performed with impressive immaculate classical technique\, incorporating and exaggerating the foibles\, accidents\, and underlying incongruities of serious dance making The Trocks an artistic and comedic triumph! \nTickets range $24-85. DESCRIPTION:Amor al Baile 6 World Dance Extravaganza presented by Yumi La Rosa Flamenco Dance Company\nDirect from Spain\, Isaac Tovar\, Flamenco dancer and choreographer touring the globe\, is joining the show this year that will not only feature Flamenco\, but also Kathak\, Belly Dance\, Contemporary and more. \nGuest Tovar is a former soloist of the Ballet Nacional de España\, Compañía Andaluza de Danza\, Compañía Antonio “El Pipa\,” Compañía Aída Gómez\, among many other premier national and international companies including Flamenco en route (Switzerland) and Flamenco Vivo (NYC).  Isaac performed as a semifinalist in the LIX Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas. He is the recipient of the 1st prizes at the renowned Concurso Nacional de la Perla de Cádiz\, the IV Concurso Internacional de Danza in Almería\, and the XXVII Concurso Nacional de Ubrique\, as well as the 2nd prize for Solo Choreography in the XXV Certamen de Coreografía de Danza Española y Flamenco in Madrid. In 2018 Tovar debuted his first solo production “Añejo” at the Centro Cultural de la Villa in his hometown Seville. In 2019 his production “Generaciones” premiered at the prestigious Teatro Real in Madrid. Throughout his career he has danced in important theaters around the world\, including: Place des Arts in Montreal\, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid\, Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla\, Teatro Villamarta in Jerez\, Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg\, Palace of Music in Moscow\, Chaillot Theatre in Paris\, Sadler’s Wells of London\, Bunkamura Theatre in Tokyo\, International Theater in Taipei\, Peking Opera House\, Isaac Tovar regularly teaches workshops throughout the United States\, Europe and Canada. \nTickets $20-40. https://tca.ticketforce.com/ \n
