SUMMARY:Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company's - "Continuous Replay: Come Together in support of Black Lives Matter."
DESCRIPTION:Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company\n“Continuous Replay: Come Together in support of Black Lives Matter”\nThursday\, 11/19/20\n6:00 PM\nhttps://contribute.newyorklivearts.org/event/continuous-replay/e308090 \nViewers will need to register in advance. Donations are optional. Enter $0 in the donation field for a free registration. \n \nDescription: Amidst the isolation and racial uprisings in the early summer of 2020 as the Covid-19 Pandemic continued its spread\, forty-four current and former company members came together (while being apart) to create something as a community in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. At the center of this virtual presentation is a recreation of Arnie Zane‘s Continuous Replay\, an iconic work which was originally a duet and a solo. In 1991\, three years after Arnie’s passing at the height of the AIDS pandemic\, Bill T. Jones made Arnie’s choreography into a full company work. Continuous Replay has connected generations of company members and was\, for most of them\, the only way to know Arnie. The diverse cast of performers spanning four decades—including Arthur Aviles\, Sean Curran\, Odile Reine-Adelaide\, Stefanie Batten Bland\, Rosalynde LeBlanc\, Heidi Latsky\, Jenna Riegel\, and many others—filmed themselves while in isolation across four continents. The original soundtrack is created by composer John Oswald and editing of the videos was done by Associate Artistic Director Janet Wong. \nThe live-streamed fundraiser event on Nov 19 will benefit three remarkable organizations – Black Strategy Fund\, The Brotherhood SisterSol\, and Buy From A Black Woman. The evening begins with a conversation between Bill T. Jones and Anthony D. Romero\, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)\, and will be joined by the directors of the three organizations\, Patrisse Cullors\, Khary Lazarre-White\, and Nikki Porcher. The event will culminate with the premiere of Continuous Replay: Come Together. 100% of the donation collected from now until Nov 27 through this event will go to the three organizations. \nSpecial thanks to our live stream partners: American Dance Festival\, ASU Gammage\, UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance & The University of the Arts
