Title: Scorpius Dance Theatre’s CATWALK
Location: Phoenix Little Theatre
Link out: Click here
Description: Drawing inspiration from pop culture, Lisa Starry has created an all-original, contemporary dance production based on the popularity of today’s fashion scene and fashion television reality shows. CATWALK fuses funky local fashions, runway style music and the sexy athleticism of the Scorpius dancers. Performed on an actual runway, the production will feature eight different dances, connected by video and music montages. One of the pieces will be set to an original song, “A Better Tomorrow” by local musician Adam Smith. In CATWALK, Scorpius’ 15 dancers will be wearing costumes created by local designers and independently owned boutiques. Costume designs by Danell Lynn of Dl-Couture; Trish Martin of Punkouture; Alicia “AK” Klovenas of Culture Revolution Clothing; Kelly Calabrese; George Johnson of GeorgeJ Designs; and Dragonfly Boutique.

The opening night of CATWALK will include the premier of this all new production, plus a post performance reception with food, drinks and plenty of live entertainment. Internationally acclaimed, award-winning musician, Ce Ce Peningston, will also make an appearance at the event.
The CATWALK reception will include hors d’oeuvres and cocktails and the opportunity to mix and mingle with the Scorpius dancers. The evening will be full of live entertainment, including an intimate acoustic performance by singer/songwriter, Adam Smith (www.adamsmithmusicart.com), plus a special performance by Arizona’s own Pop/Electronica diva, Miss Krystle (www.misskrystle.us). Guests will dance the night away to hot beats by D.J. Greyblue and will have a chance to bid on fantastic fashion-related auction items.

I LAND is Keo Woolford’s hilarious and poignant search for the meaning of his cultural heritage. From his high school days as a football player and discovery of a “Hula God” to his tour in a famous boy band, Woolford’s story will keep you enthralled. Combining elements of traditional Hawaiian hula, hip-hop, Hawaiian talk story and spoken word, I LAND tells a funny, unforgettable tale where worlds separated by geography and culture collide. Recommended for ages 12 and older.
