Mondays/Wednesdays from 6:00pm-7:00pm
Rehearsals will begin immediately on
Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm-9:00pm,
Saturdays and/or Sundays from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
Rehearsal schedule may vary or change as needed.
· Dancers must have flexible schedule and available to rehearse and perform.
· Dancers have performance experience in modern dance.
· Experience in ballet, jazz and other dance and performing arts is a plus.
· Dancers must be responsible with reliable transportation.

Performance Info: Desert Dance Theatre is presenting “Cool at 90!” in honor of choreographer Marion Kirk Jones on the occasion of her 90th Birthday. The concert will occur on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Tempe Center for the Arts Theater at 7:30pm. Dancers are needed for the reconstruction of Jones’ choreography, “Dancing the Malthusian,” an epic work based on the theory of Thomas Robert Malthus on the dangers of population growth as written in An Essay on the Principle of Population.
Choreographer’s Bio: Marion Kirk Jones, Professor Emeritus of Dance at Arizona State University, was a member of the Lester Horton Dance Company and has taught at Cornell University, Purdue University, the University of Rochester and the Cranbrook Institutions of Michigan. Her studies included intensive work with modern dancers Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Hanya Holm, Ted Shawn and Louis Horst. She received her ballet training at the School of American Ballet with George Balanchine, Anatol Oboukhoff, Pierre Vladimiroff and Muriel Stuart.
