ADC sponsors UK’s Jo Scanlan Tapapalooza GCU

$1 – $80The Arizona Dance Coalition (ADC) is sponsoring a beginner/early intermediate tap class by Tap Master Jo Scanlan, from the United Kingdom, as part of the National Tap Dance Day Celebration organized by Arizona’s only professional tap dance company, Tap 24.7. Master classes for “Tapapalooza 2015” will be held May 23, 10 am–2 pm, at Grand Canyon University, 3300 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix. Two rooms for beginner/early intermediate & intermediate and advanced levels. (View performance details at the end of this post.)
ADC members will be able to take Jo’s 1 pm class for FREE, but must pre-register by emailing Suzy Guarino at moc.liamgnull@7.42neZpaT. ADC members must be in good standing (dues paid).
Jo is the Creative Director of Tap Attack, a UK tap company she co-founded in 2007, which has gone on to build an international reputation for excellence in performance and technical training. Tap Attack teaches and performs regularly in the UK, overseas in theatrical productions, and for corporate performances for Puma, McDonald’s and Mercedes Benz. Jo is a regular contributing author for dance and theatre publications for over 10 years, and was twice the recipient of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing’s Gwen Carter choreographic award. In 2009 Jo set a new Guinness World Record™ for the number of beats in 60 seconds, smashing the existing record of 602 by 182 beats to set an unprecedented record of 784 beats, which was televised on Sky One’s “Guinness World Records Smashed.”
Her numerous choreography and performance credits include Guinness World Records Smashed, The Best of Guinness World Records Smashed, This Morning, The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Got To Dance, Weekend Sunrise, Born To Shine, as well as a wealth of international theatre credits including work in the UK, Europe and America. She has taught at workshops and festivals internationally including Tap UK Festival, United We Tap, Tap United and the International Dance Teachers Conference.

A important part of this TAP DAY Celebration is the performance the following day:
May 24, Sunday, 2 & 6:30 pm. Grand Canyon University Ethington Theater, 3300 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix. Tap 24.7 presents Tap My Sole. Come visit the sole-ful town of Shoeville and tap into the sounds of 4 lost soles as they each search to find their lost rhythm. An evening of fabulous tap dancing and fantastic music with Arizona’s premier tap company, Tap 24.7, with special guests and tap dancers of all ages from Arizona and across the country.
