ASU Dance – Emerging Artists I – category FIVE
October 13 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm MST
One event on October 14, 2023 at 6:00 pm
Emerging Artists I presents original choreographic work by third-year dance graduate students Isabella Lepp and Dean Saifullin. The Emerging Artists performances feature MFA thesis projects. The artists spend nearly a year developing research-intensive projects that center on a broad range of subjects, including cultural identity and ideas around the power of nature and its connection to healing and consciousness.
Note: There are three showtimes nightly.
“Category FIVE” is an immersive experience captivating fusion of dance, storytelling, and extended reality elements. Audience will step into the heart of the strongest hurricane on record, explore its impact on the inner psyche and how to heal after facing life’s adversity. Held at the world-class Media and Immersive eXperience (MiX) Center in Mesa, this walk-through experience offers multi-sensory exploration of the power of nature, mind, body and ‘beyond.’ This project seeks to authentically intertwine disciplines, provoke introspection and provide a thought-provoking journey that challenges perceptions and consciousness.
Note: Patrons will be standing and moving throughout the space from scene to scene for a minimum of 45 minutes, at times navigating stairs. There is no seating available for the duration of this event. Please inform staff when checking in for elevator accessible accommodations.
Content transparency: This performance will include intense audio and visuals, including alarms, red flashing lights, strobe lighting, and the simulation of a hurricane. May include physical touch. Patrons will be asked to fill out a consent form prior to participating.
Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Herberger Institute Box Office. There will be no in-person sales at the event. Guests who do not have a ticket at the door will be directed to purchase them online.
Events may be viewed in these formats: list, week, day, map, photo and month.
