Tucson Friend of Traditional Music has been chosen as one of seven cities on the Country Dance and Song Society’s Centennial Celebration Tour.  CDSS is sending three national-caliber traditional musicians, one of whom is also an accomplished traditional dancer, and a celebrated contra dance caller to Tucson to present a series of workshops and dances taking place Saturday, April 25 – Friday, May 1.  Workshops will include playing music for contra dances, Appalachian Flatfooting, Intro. to Contra Dancing, body rhythms, and learning to call contra dances.  Evening dances will include an Opening Celebration Dance, an intro. dance for students and young professionals, a zesty Reunion Dance for experienced contra dancers, and a Finale Dance for everyone.

All events will be at the First United Methodist Church, 915 4th St., Tucson one block south of University near the U of A Main Gate, with the exception of the student/young professionals dance which will be at the Flycatcher, 340 E. 6th St., and the Finale Dance which will be at the Square and Round Dance Center, 613 E. Delano at 1st Ave.

All workshops, as well as the student/young professional dance are free.  The admission to the other evening dances is $5.00.
