March 13-19, 2013

One of the Largest Tango Festival Offerings in the Southwest!

Argentine Tango has become a world-wide phenomenon. This festival brings over 350 national and international tango dancers to Tucson for 6 days of pure Tango Argentino Paradise! We study, we make new connections, we support community and, most importantly…we dance.

17 Instructors – We invite the best in instruction, artistic quality and community building.
9 DJs – We strive to offer the best tango experience possible by seeking out the best music.
Guerrilla Milonga to Run For!! – Tango around Tucson public exhibitions!
31 Classes – Over 40 Hours of classes all centered around learning and improving the dance.
11 Milongas – That is over 48 hours of social dancing!!
Live Tango Orchestra – Orquesta Tipica Natural Tango will play Saturday 8-10pm
Performances by the Maestros – at the Friday and Saturday night Milonga
Vendors – selling Tango shoes and clothing.

Opportunities for the general public to get involved:

Absolute Beginner’s Tango Classes
March 14-17, 2013, 7pm-9pm
This module includes a 1.5 hr class with ½ hour practice on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Sunday you will attend your first Milonga where more experienced dancers attending the Festival will be there to assist you.

Live Music with Orquesta Tipica Natural Tango
Saturday, March 17, 2012, 8pm-10pm
$25 (100% goes to the Orchestra)
The public is welcome to attend this live music presentation – tickets can be purchased at the door. This is also a Milonga and as such festival participants will be social dancing while the orchestra is playing.

3-Part Lecture Series with Daniel Trenner: Tangy Mythology, History and Revival
March 16-18, 9pm-10:30pm
$30 for all 3 advance purchase or $20 at the door per lecture
This fascinating and well respected leader and dancer in the international tango community shares his knowledge, wisdom and history.

Mitologia Criolla: Shifting Themes in Tango Lyrics from 1900 -1950
March 17, 2013, 4:30pm-5:30pm
Lecture by Derrick Del Pilar, Tango Dancer, DJ and Lyric Transalator
Sponsored by the Tucson Tango Society
$5 per person – all proceeds go to the Tucson Tango Society
