Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre
Instructors: Nannette Brodie and Jennie Sustaita

Class Title: Contemporary/Modern Technique and Improvisation

Description: Contemporary technique with familiar rock music accompaniment. Improvisation exploration based on Nikolais/Louis theory.

Nannette Brodie – Artistic Director, and Distinguished Artist of the Year 2007 for Long Beach, performed and choreographed for the nationally acclaimed Los Angeles modern dance company, The Moving Company. Since that time she has choreographed independently in musical theatre, dance companies, television and film, while starting her own company and a nonprofit corporation, South Coast Dance Arts Alliance.

Nannette’s principal training and theory of choreography stem from her work with Murray Louis, Janice Day and Alwin Nikolais. She is an alumnus of the Nikolais-Louis Dance Lab in New York.  Nannette received the Else Loudon Solo Award for her choreography at the Palm Desert “Dancing Under the Stars” Festival in 2002, the “Daffy” Award from Dance in the Desert Festival in 2007, as well as recognition for Outstanding Woman in Arts and Culture for Long Beach and Distinguished Arts Educator for Huntington Beach, CA.

Jennie Sustaita received her B.F.A in Dance from Cal State Long Beach in 2001.  She is a Body Arts and Science certified pilates instructor and teaches dance throughout Long Beach and Cerritos.  In 2003 Jennie created a state model program for Arts Orange County that teaches creative dance to children. That same year she taught at the American College Dance Festival in Modesto, California. Jennie has been a company member of the Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre since 2001 and has enjoyed touring with them throughout California, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Utah, Arizona and Europe. In 2008, she traveled with the company to teach and perform in Helsinki, Finland. Jennie has also performed with Indigo Dance Theater, Moving Arts Dance Company and Nickerson/Rossi Dance.

Master Classes will be offered by Company Members of ADF Participants.
Who can take classes? Anyone who can move their bodies, ages 16 years and up.
Class Limit: 25
