Tap Workshop with Suzy Guarino

Advanced Tap 4:30 – 6 pm

Suzy Guarino will be teaching 2 workshop classes at Wall-2-Wall Dance Center on Saturday, November 15: Intermediate Tap from 3 – 4:30 pm and Advanced Tap from 4:30-6 pm. Register by November 14 to get the best price: $15 for 1 class, $26 for both. Price goes up the day of the workshop to $20 for 1 class, $36 for both. A discount is available for college students, senior citizens, and military members.

Suzy Guarino has been busy in the dance and entertainment business for more than 25 years.  Originally from Chicago, she started her career young with commercials from Mc Donald’s, Osco Drugs, and Six Flags.  Suzy was also an NBA dancer for the Chicago Bulls 1995-1996. In 1997 Suzy moved to Phoenix where she expanded her love for tap.  Some of her biggest influences include Gregory Hines, Jason Samuels Smith, Jimmy Tate, Mark Goodman, Gregg Russell, Mark Mendonca and many others.  Suzy has taught tap for Motor City Tap Fest, Dance Educator’s of America, Focus Dance Conventions, Star Systems, Mark Goodman’s Totally Tap, Dance RAW,N-House Productions, Tap Unplugged and Spotlight Dance Cup. With over ten years experience, she is a regional and national dance competition adjudicator for SpotlightDance Cup, In10sity Dance, andStar Systems.  Suzy was a principle dancer in the tap show, Scuff’d Up, choreographed by Mike Wittmers, She has choreographed several benefit shows for the Juvenile Diabetes, Caitlin Robb Foundation and Mercedes Benz.

Suzy still is very active in the acting world. In her professional acting career, she has been in over 100 spots. She can recently be seen in a spot for Blue Diamond Almonds and heard on the new Massage Envy commercials for TV and radio.  She’s the owner of a tap production company called Rhythm Essence Productions.  Her tap group, Tap 24.7, has done numerous guest performances for different events and concerts, including the Tucson National Tap Dance Day Festival and the Motor City Tap Fest.  Suzy is also the co-creator of the original Tap 24.7 shows, Tapabilities Are Endless, Just Breathe and Tap On, and Tap 24.7’s new show, In the Pocket.

She enjoys teaching around the country as a master tap teacher to many studios, has choreographed overall national pieces, and is an inspiration to students of all ages.  Her choreography is rhythmic, energetic and cutting edge while mixing in modern music.  She excels as a teacher, understanding many levels and breaking down steps and technique that is easy to understand.  Suzy teaches in Phoenix at Bender Performing Arts and does tap choreography for their company, Dance Motion. She also teaches at Plumb Performing Arts and Dynamic Motion Dance Academy.
